Step 1. This workshop will show you how to make this delicate but textured card with the main focus on the Sue Wilson Frames & Tags ~ Maggie die, the Configurations graceful lace die, the damask delight stamp, and the finishing touches wild rose die. The project also uses the Foundations vellum and Foundations pearl icicle card along with the Creative Expressions micro beads over the self adhesive sheet. Step 2. First take a piece Foundations vellum and place a self adhesive sheet on the top. This die is great for using up small scrap pieces of sticky sheets and the vellum or you may wish to lay a whole sheet of sticky over the A4 vellum. Secure the Sue Wilson Configurations graceful lace die over the mat side of the sticky carrier sheet with some low tack tape. This way will allow the tape to stick onto the matt surface as the glossy side won`t. Step 3. Cut the prepared vellum / sticky sheet through the Grand Calibur die cutting machine. DO NOT emboss the piece as this can crack the carrier sheet.
Step 4. This is just one pass through the Grand Calibur. It will cut well but you will have to remove some of the pieces from the die... Step 5.... so use your Spellbinders tool in one to help aid the removal of the intricate pieces. Step 6. Repeat the process until you have 4 sticky backed border shapes.
Step 7. Remove the carrier sheet off the solid frame card and make sure you have the border in a box lid place before adding some of the Creative Expression clear micro beads over the sticky border piece. Press the micro beads firmly onto the border sticky sheet and wiping away any excess micro beads back into the pot / lid. Step 8. Now you will have a delicate micro bead border which will look like this over a piece of vellum. Step 9. or it can be added over the edge of the vellum for an even more delicate effect.
Step 10. Place the Sue Wilson finishing touches wild rose die onto a doubled up piece of vellum. Secure in place with a piece of low tack tape before running it through the Grand Calibur. Use the junior Spellbinder plates for ease and have the die in a landscape position when cutting for speed. Now you will have cut 2 rose flowers out. Also cut another rose but add some adhesive sheet over a piece of vellum before cutting the rose out. Add micro beads over the whole of the rose sticky sheet. Step 11. Add some of the plain vellum leaves and rose head over the micro beaded base rose making sure the flowers are added at an angle to give a lovely contrast and dimension to the rose. Step 12. Here is a closer look of the rose with the micro bead stem peeking through.
Step 13. Take a piece of the Foundations vellum in a portrait position and lay the border along the side of the vellum. Make a pencil mark or a small snip where the end of the border will fall. Step 14. Trim across the vellum at this just made mark. Also cut 2 more panels the same depth. Step 15. Stagger the vellum with an equal distance apart until you are happy with the way it looks. Mine are 1 ¼ inch apart.
Step 16. Hold the vellum all together and using the end of the bottom layer as your guide, trim off the excess vellum on the right hand side of the prepared piece so you are left with have the staggered vellum layers falling on the left hand side of the guillotine. You may want to cut this slightly smaller ( ½ cm ) so you can mount the vellum onto a width piece of Foundations icicle card later on. Step 17. Keep the vellum all in same position so you can score down the side to create the joining section for the project. Here I have scored 1 ½ cms in from the right hand side if the tails of the vellum are facing to the left. I moved the vellum around to save any hand impressions marking the vellum. Now turn the vellum over and score on the ½ cm score lines to the edge. This will give you a nice edging to the side of the vellum tabs. Step 18. Still using the ½ cm markings go around the edge of the vellum using 2 of the score lines to create a nice finish around all of the panels separately. Alternatively the panels could have been made using a Sue Wilson pierced rectangle dies.
Step 19. Now you have the 3 base layered effect pieces of vellum ready to have the borders added. Make sure the edges of the vellum are all straight at this stage after the embossing has taken place as it will make for a nicer finish to the project. Step 20. Place some Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue along the very thin edge on the reverse of the beaded border. Step 21. Add the border onto the edge of the prepared vellum panel.
Step 22. Press the border down firmly so you know the border is completely adhered to the edge of the vellum and that any excess glue will seep out. Step 23. Wipe away any glue that has got into the intricate areas of the micro bead border. Repeat on the other 2 panels of vellum. Work each layer flat on a craft mat to save any glue marking the vellum below. Step 24. Once the borders are all on and the glue is dry lay the panels back on top of each other to start to build up the design.
Step 25. Here the already made up beaded rose and vellum rose as been placed onto the project along with the other beaded border down the left hand side of the card. Working in this manner just allows the design to take shape and you will be able to see how a die shape under the rose would be a welcomed addition to cover the space. Step 26. Beforehand run a line of a sticky tape runner along the reverse of the side embossed tab area on the 2 nd size down panel and add it to the base panel. Repeat the same process on the top layer and add that to the 2 nd just added layer to complete the joining of the vellum panels. It`s a great way to make a layered card by joining the pages like this. Step 27. Go ahead and add the 4 th border to the left hand side of the card.
Step 28. Cut a panel out of the Foundations pearl icicle card so it leaves just a small border all the way around. Here is where the trimming the tiny amount of the vellum away from the left hand side when sizing the vellum comes in play. Attach the base by adding the sticky runner under the side tab area and under the right hand border if you prefer as well. Step 29. Select the Sue Wilson Frames & Tags ~ Maggie die and the damask delight stamp. Either cut the Maggie die out as a die piece along with the lattice circle too... Step 30....or take a sheet of the Foundations pearl icicle card and place it on the Creative Expressions stamping mat. Ink up the Creative Expressions damask delight stamp with the Prefect Medium ink pad & then stamp it onto the card.
Step 31. Add some of the Cosmic Shimmer true white embossing powder over the ink and then heat set the image using a heat tool. Step 32. Place the outer die from the Sue Wilson frames & tags ~ Maggie die set and secure the die in place with some low tack tape on a piece of Foundations pearl icicle card. Run the prepared piece through the Grand Calibur machine to cut the piece and the emboss the card for added detail. Step 33. As you have the lattice design already cut, now use the same die to cut the circle out of the centre of the stamped panel as you will be able to see where the die needs to be placed. It could have been done in the previous step but I was just not a 100% sure when I was designing the project of the end effect.
Step 34. Place a piece of self adhesive sheet onto a piece of coconut card or any other white card off cut and secure the outer Sue Wilson Maggie outer die in place with some low tack tape before you pass it through the Grand Calibur machine to cut only the panel. Remove the backing and place the panel in a craft box and tip the Creative Expressions clear micro beads over the sticky areas. Step 35. Add the micro bead panel so it`s turned 90 degrees and is off set under the damask delight frame. Use foam tape & glue or 3d glue to raise the worked piece over the micro bead panel. Step 36. Recess the pearl lattice circle into the aperture using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue.
Step 37. Add the vellum flower behind the beaded / vellum flower for a subtle contrast to the finished look. Step 38. Cut 2 butterflies out in vellum using the die from the Sue Wilson delicate garden frame butterfly die and attach them to the card for more movement. Step 39. Here you have the completed card which could have a ribbon added or some pearls. The micro beads add a lovely luxury weight to the finished piece and you could use the NEW gold, silver, black, white or copper micro beads with the same colour tone card and embossing powders for a luxury feel to the project.
Step 40. This photo just shows the dimension of the die cut shape and the flowers too. Step 41. Add a photo or sentiment in the layers of the vellum for that special feel to the card. Step 42. It would make a perfect card for a wedding or Christening as you can make it really personal for the recipient it is given too.
