Page 3 of 5 Sewing Sew using a 1/4" seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by arrows. Directions are given for the White Border Version (Red Border Version is in italics) Block Assembly Panel Blocks: 1. Transfer circle template to template plastic. Trace circle 15 times on fusible webbing. Cut the circles, approximately ¼ outside the drawn lines. 2. Place the cut out circles on the wrong side of the following 5 ½ x 5 ½ squares: (3) Hunter Christmas Plaid (E) (3) Red Christmas Plaid (F) (3) Green 1351 (N) (3) Red Holiday Berries (G) 3. Following manufacturer s instructions, fuse the circles to the squares. 4. Cut out the circles on the lines. 5. Center the circles on the right side of the 7 x 7 squares of the following fabrics (Finger press the squares to find the center.) Hunter Christmas Plaid (E) on Blush (K) Red Christmas Plaid (F) on Mint (M) Green 1351 (N) on Blush (K) Red Holiday Berries (G) on Teal (L) 6. Fuse in place. Make (3) each. 7. Machine applique around the edges with a matching thread. 8. Use a ruler and marking pencil to divide the 7 x 7 squares in four equal parts. Cut apart. Each piece will measure 3 ½ x 3 ½. 9. Following the diagram below, arrange the cut pieces with 3 ½ x 3 ½ squares Mint (M), Teal (L) and 6 ½ x 6 ½ panel squares (A). 10. Sew the pieces together as shown. Repeat to make (5) blocks. Completed blocks should measure 12 ½ x 12 ½ (You will have extra 3 ½ circle pieces.) Make 5
Page 4 of 5 Flying Geese Blocks 1. Draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of White Small Floral Vine ( I) (Black Small Floral Vine (J) 6 ½ x 6 ½ square. Place the square, right sides together on one end of a Black Medallion Snowflake (D) (White Medallion Snowflake (B) 6 ½ x 12 ½ rectangle. 2. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the corner 1/4" from seam and press. Repeat on the other end of the rectangle. Make (4) units that measure 6 ½ x 12 ½. 3. Sew each flying geese unit to a Red Medallion Snowflake (C) (Black Medallion Snowflake (D) 6 ½ x 12 ½ rectangle as shown. 4. Make (4) flying geese blocks that measure 12 ½" x 12 ½". Make 4 Make 4 Quilt Top Arrange the blocks as shown and sew together by row. Pin and sew rows together for a completed quilt center that measures 36 ½" x 36 ½". Borders Your quilt may differ slightly in size, be sure to measure through the middle in both directions for an accurate measurement, and adjust the border strips as necessary. Press the seams toward the borders when sewing them to the quilt top.
Inner Border - Black Small Floral Vine (J) (White Small Floral Vine I) 1. From 1 ½" x WOF strips, cut: (2) 1 ½ x 36 ½ strips and sew to the sides of the quilt top. 2. Cut (2) 1 ½ x 38 ½ strips and add to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Page 5 of 5 Outer Border - White Medallion Snowflakes (B) (Red Medallion Snowflakes C) 3. From 4 ½" x WOF strips, cut (2) 4 ½ x 38 ½ strips and sew to the sides of the quilt top. 4. Piece (2) 4 ½ x 46 ½ strips and sew to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Layering, Quilting and Finishing Piece backing to make (1) 52" x 52" backing piece. Press quilt top and backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete. Binding Cut the ends of the (5) 2 ½" binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew together end to end to make one continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back and hand stitch in place.
