a Chocoholic b Quilt by Deb Mosa Finished Quilt Approximately: 50" x 50" - Finished Center Size: 36" x 36" Chocoholic fabrics by Exclusively Quilters - Style #3923 Fabric Requirements: Based on 44" wide fabric 1/2 yard cream mixed treats (#60591-900) 1-5/8 yards black mixed treats (#60591-8) 3/4 yard red boxed chocolates (#60592-1) 1/2 yard black strawberries (#60593-8) 1/4 yard cream dot (#60473-990) 7/8 yard tan dot (#60473-900) 1-1/8 yards brown dot (#60473-99) 3-1/2 yards fabric for backing (#60592-8 suggested) 58" x 58" quilt batting template plastic NOTE: Cutting directions will indicate width of piece ( ) and height of piece (o) when orientation of a directional fabric is important. Make Templates: Trace templates onto and label. An added 1/8 to 1/2 yard is added to all yardages to account for shrinkage, straightening, cutting errors and prints that may require special cutting to get the best results. Page 2 Tower Sections: 1. Using the Tower Window Template, trim four 4-3/4" x 5-1/4" cream dot rectangles. Middle Section: 1. Stitch a 5-3/4" x 7-1/2" cream mixed treats piece between two 2" x 5-3/4" brown dot pieces. Add 3-3/4" x 5-3/4" black mixed treat pieces to the sides, then a 2-3/4" x 17" brown dot to the top. 2. Sew a black strawberry 1-1/2" x 6" strip to the bottom of each window. Stitch another strip to the top left. Add a third strip to top right of window. Trim the black strawberry strips even with the sides of the window pieces. 3. Add two 3-1/4" brown dot half-square triangles to top of each window. 4. Stitch a 3-3/4" x 5-1/4" red mixed chocolate piece between two windows. Sew a 1-3/4" x 5-1/4" red mixed chocolate to top and a 3-1/8" x 5-1/4" red mixed chocolate piece to bottom of window section. Add a 3" x 21" red mixed chocolate strip to each side of the windows. Top the tower unit with a 1-3/4" x 10-1/4" brown dot strip. Make a second tower section. 2. Draw a diagonal line across the wrong side of two 4-1/4" black mixed treat squares as shown: 3. Lay the marked squares on the top corners of the doorway unit as shown. Stitch along marked lines, trim seam to 1/4" and press triangles out. h 4. Sew a 3-1/4" x 17" black mixed treats strip to the top of the doorway unit. h h h 5. Using the Middle Window Template, trim one 5-1/2" x 5-5/8" cream mixed treats piece.

Page 3 6. Stitch a 1-1/2" x 4" brown dot strip to sides of middle window. Trim strips even with sides of window. 7. Stitch 1-1/2" x 8" brown dot strips to the three remaining sides of window, pressing and trimming after each addition. Roof Section: 1. Using the indicated templates, trim the following pieces of fabric: Trim 10-3/4" x 20-3/4" black strawberries piece with Roof Template Trim two 10-1/4" x 10-3/4" cream mixed treat pieces with Tower Spire Template Trim one 5-3/8" x 10-3/4" tan dot piece with with Sky Edge Template and one with the reverse Sky Edge Template. Trim one 6-7/8" x 8-5/8" tan dot piece with with Top Sky Template and one with the reverse Top Sky Template. 8. Stitch 4-3/8" black mixed treats half-square triangles to the top corners of the middle window. Add 5-1/4" x 8" black mixed treat rectangles to the sides of the window unit. 2. Sew a tan dot Top Sky piece to top sides of the black strawberry roof piece. 3. Sew each tan dot Sky Edge piece to a cream mixed treat spire. 4. Sew the spires to the sides of the roof. 9. Stitch the middle window unit over the door unit. Top the center section with a 4-1/2" x 17" black mixed treats strip.

Page 4 Assembly 1. Stitch the tower sections to each side of the middle section. Add the roof section on top. Sew a 4-1/2" x 44" tan dot strip over the roof section, press and trim excess even with the sides of the quilt center. Finishing: 1. Cut backing into two equal lengths. Sew the two lengths of backing together along selvage edges creating a two-panel wide backing. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt or tie as desired. 2. Prepare binding from five 2-1/2" x 44" brown dot strips. Sew strips together into one long binding strip. Press strip in half lengthwise. 3. Carefully trim backing and batting even with quilt top. 4. Leaving an 8" tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12" from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1/4" and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt. 2. Sew a 2" x 44" tan dot strip to right and left sides of quilt center. Press and trim excess from these and all successive border additions. Add remaining 2" x 44" tan dot strips to top and bottom of quilt center. 5. Turn binding to back of quilt and blind stitch in place. 3. Make and add a 2" brown dot border in the same manner as the first border. 4. Add the 4-1/2" x length of fabric black mixed treat strips to the right and left sides of quilt. Make two borders each with two 4-1/2" x remaining width black mixed strips sewn together end-toend. Add these borders to top and bottom of quilt.
