The Heritage Heartbeat Painting News for Members of Palomar Heritage Painters Vol 30, Issue 8 August 2013 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE August Birthdays Teri Hayes...2 Carolyn Scott...5 Dawn Reinhardt... 11 Kathy Steffel... 12 Sherry Walker... 25 Gwendolyn Pitney... 26 Barbara Nolan... 29 Linda Eastom... 29 August 10th Carol Ganzi Sept. 14th Karen Ortman October 19th & 20th Bobbie Takashima Wow, we have had a couple of busy months. I had such a good time at Lori Hillstead's class for the Calla Lilies. We learned so many different faux finishes and it was so fun. I know all who were there really had a great class and I think we all finished our pieces or pretty much got them just about done. Lori shared with us some new pieces she has done and everyone loved them. She let us keep one so we will be sharing it with you. I'm so excited about the next class with Carol Ganzi. I am such a great fan of Maureen McNaughton s designs and so it will be such a good class to learn her techniques, which are very different than other designers. You really should not miss this class. Maureen has decided to not teach in the United States anymore, so this may be the only option you have of learning how to paint like her. Carol is such a good teacher and this is her first time teaching for us at PHP. Marilyn and I hope to have the pieces and patterns available for Bobbie Takashima s class at the August paint-in. Remember, August 10th is also the last day to sign up at the early bird price. So don't delay! Karen Ortman & I are busy little bees working on the Christmas Party and the Mystery Paint-In. We will have our next meeting on August 31st at my place!! Speaking of Karen please sign up and take the class with Karen O in September. It will be a beautiful piece to add to your Holiday Decor. I can't wait to do it. We will be working on canvas and Roc-lon. Having never worked on Roc-lon before, I am looking forward to learning something new. I hope to see you all soon! Sue

We had a blast working with layered media effects, including use of Saran Wrap, sponges, combs, stencils, and gold leafing with double sided tape. Lori had so many creative ideas on how to layer canvases, and play on a variation of sizes, shapes, and placement. It was simply fun, fun, fun! Thank you, Lori. Please come paint with us again soon. Thanks, Marilyn Dixon You will toadlly love painting with Bobbie T. P.S. Please see flyer on Page 3 of Newsletter. Garage Sale Gossip. We have an unusual piece on the PHP Garage Sale table. Because of its weight and size, I am advertising it to help find it a home. The piece is a LuAnn Ginnetti s laundry hamper with momma and baby ducks in a wash pan with a hand pump. It was a very popular piece in it s day. The piece appears to be painted; it just needs to be put together. If you are interested, please give me a call or check it out at the next garage sale.
