Basic Instructions Autumn Stroll For 14.5 Flexi Pose Dolls Use a ¼ seam allowance unless noted otherwise on the pattern piece or instructions. This seam allowance is already included in the dimensions of the pattern. Press the garment as you work through each step. Press seams open where applicable. In un-lined garments, finish raw edges with an over-lock or zigzag stitch. Note that RST = Right Sides Together and WST = Wrong Sides Together. Coat Coat may be lined or un-lined. Omit cutting linings and use the optional Coat Front Facing instead. As coat is un-lined, raw edges should be finished with an overlock or zigzag stitch. Following instructions are for llined version of coat. RST sew Coat Front darts. RST sew Coat Back darts. Press darts towards center of coat. Repeat for linings however, darts should be pressed towards outside of coat. RST sew Coat Fronts to Coat Back along shoulder edges. Repeat for lining. Ease sleeve caps between dots of Coat Sleeves and Coat Sleeve linings. RST match notch in sleeve cap to shoulder seam and pin in place. Sew sleeves to coat armholes. Repeat for linings. RST match notches in Coat Fronts to Coat Back and sleeve front to sleeve back and sew along raw edges. Repeat for linings. WST fold bottom hem edge of sleeve under approx. ½ and secure in place with a hand blind hem. Repeat for lining. RST, matching seams, pin coat lining to coat along neck edge, front edge and bottom edge. Sew lining to coat leaving approx. 2 opening in back of coat so that coat can be turned right side out. Trim allowance except for opening to 1/8. Trim corners and clip curves as needed. Turn coat right side out. Tuck seam allowance in opening between coat and lining and press. Press edges of coat smooth. Using waxed needle and thread secure opening closed using a hand stitch. Using button placement markings on pattern as a guide, mark placement for one button on the outside Right of coat and mark placement for four buttons on the outside left of coat. Secure buttons in place. A single #4 snap set is used as the closure for coat. One half of snap set should be secured underneath the top button. The other half is secured above the second button. Turn coat wrong side out and secure sleeve lining to sleeve using waxed thread and a hand stitch. Jumper With right sides together sew the jumper bodice to the jumper lining. Turn and press. Pin the jumper skirt to the jumper lining with right sides together. Sew along the hem edge. Turn and press. Baste back openings. Run a gathering stitch along the top edge of the jumper skirt. Gather to fit jumper bodice. Pin the bodice to the jumper skirt with right sides together. Sew them together. Zig zag or serge back openings. Sew center back seam from the hem to the dot. Turn left back opening under ¼ and finish opening with snaps. Prepare jumper straps by folding the strap with right sides together. Sew around the strap leaving one end open for turning. Turn and press straps. Fit to the doll and sew straps in place. (remember to leave room for a top to go under the jumper.)
Button-Up Top With right sides together, sew shoulder seams and center back of self facing. Zigzag or serge inside edge of facing. WST, sew outer edge of collar, clip, turn and press. Match the center of the collar to the center of the back. Pin collar to right side of shirt and baste in place. Pin self-facing to neck opening and collar. Sew in place. Turn facing to inside of the shirt and press. Hem sleeve edge. Run gather stitch at sleeve cap. With right sides together, sew sleeve to armhole opening, ease gathers as you sew. Sew the front sections to the back at the side seam. Finish hem. Finish shirt with tiny buttons and snaps to close. www.fletcherpatterncompany.com
