2 Rieter. Kahatex KAHATEX GROUP OVERVIEW The Kahatex Group a giant in textile manufacturing KAHATEX BORN BY A STRONG VISION When Mr. L.H. Song established P.T. KAHATEX in 1979, he followed his vision to be part of the booming textile industry in Indonesia. The Indonesian textile industry is the 3rd largest industry beside the oil and gas industry and makes a major contribution to the export industry. Since then, the company has grown to a large textile complex, sprawling over two manufacturing sites at Cijerah, Bandung and Rancaekek near Bandung City. The city of Bandung has, due to its higher elevation, quite a comfortable climate throughout the whole year. Bandung has a population of more than 4 million inhabitants and with its city parks and gardens with the blooming flowers is also famous as the City of Flowers. WORLDWIDE MARKET SUCCESS AND EXPANSION The Kahatex Group is now a fully integrated producer from fiber manufacturing to spinning, weaving, finishing and garment manufacturing. To maintain and expand their market position in all aspects, the company followed a continuous development and expansion process with an ever-broadening product range. Today the Kahatex Group is a major player in the Indonesian textile sector, contributing significantly to the export market. 35% of its production is exported directly to numerous countries worldwide, while 45% of the production is indirectly exported through consumer companies and 20% is supplied to the domestic market. The Kahatex Group now counts 26 000 employees, with a capacity to process 120 000 tons of raw material (cotton and man made fibers) per year. 400 000 ring spinning spindles, 2 000 rotor units and 17 000 air jet spinning units are followed by 2 000 weaving looms and 1 500 circular knitting machines.

Rieter. Kahatex 3 INNOVATION FOR LEADERSHIP Touch the future with COM4 yarn THE SPINNING PRODUCTION OF KAHATEX The spinning division includes 2 worsted spinning mills, 5 combed and blended spinning mills, 4 jet spinning mills and 1 fancy yarn spinning mill. The yarn count range is from Ne 6 to Ne 60. The main materials to be spun are cotton, acrylic, wool and polyester. All yarns are available in dyed, mélange and raw white form. LATEST MILL INSTALLED BY RIETER Rieter could install at Kahatex several mills. The first installation was made in 2004 and the second in 2005 in Bandung and consists of: Full blowroom line with 30 cards Combing with 22 combers K 44 compact spinning machines with 34 272 spindles INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS FOR LEADERSHIP IN THE WORLD TEXTILE MARKET The Kahatex management always followed the vision of the owner to meet the market demand with new innovative products. After a thorough market survey, the decision to invest in the new yarn manufacturing process of compact yarns was taken. All available systems were carefully studied and compared in relation to technological and economical aspects. Kahatex was convinced that with the compacting system offered by Rieter the best benefits could be achieved, which is confirmed by the high yarn quality values of COM4 yarns. With the latest addition of further Rieter ComforSpin machines K 44, the Kahatex Group will own 77 184 spindles the largest installation of COM4 spindles worldwide. Rieter congratulates Kahatex on being the COM4 leader and thanks Kahatex for being chosen as their system supplier partner.

4 Rieter. Kahatex BLOWROOM AND CARDS The road to success PERFECT FIBER PREPARATION Kahatex has been convinced by the Rieter blowroom line with uniform operating principles, standardized elements for ease of service and maintenance, the latest control systems and a high degree of flexibility. Good opening as soon as the bale is broken, efficient pre-cleaning and reproducible fine cleaning are the elements of the fiber-preserving concept. Cleaning intensity and optimum waste removal are individually adjusted at each stage of cleaning by means of VarioSet. CARDING FOR HIGHEST REQUIREMENTS 30 installed C 60 cards are working to the satisfaction of Kahatex. With an increased working width from 1 000 mm to 1 500 mm for a 50% larger carding area and a reduced cylinder diameter the card C 60 has an entirely redesigned geometry. The modular concept simplifies the adaptation of the card to the required end product demands. The proven IGS system for the wire maintenance ensures a consistent high sliver quality and increases the lifetime of the wire set. MACHINERY INSTALLED 2 A 11 UNIfloc automatic bale opener 1 B 11 UNIclean pre-cleaner 4 B 70 UNImix blender 2 B 60 UNIflex fine cleaner 2 A 77 UNIstore 30 C 60 cards

Rieter. Kahatex 5 COMBING AND DRAWING Combing for efficient fiber selection GENTLE COMBING PREPARATION The pre-combing drawframes prepare the slivers for lap formation on the UNIlap E 32. Optimal fiber structure, homogeneous lap build-up and an even lap construction are realized by the UNIlap system. The proven semi-automatic transport system SERVOtrolley guarantees damage free and efficient lap transport to the comber. COMBING FOR EFFICIENT FIBER SELECTION Combers from Rieter have been determining the combing standard at all times. Rieter s own C A P D + (Computer Aided Process Development) program optimizes the combing process in all technological terms and improves running properties, even at highest nip rates and with shorter machine downtimes. PROVEN DRAWFRAME TECHNOLOGY The combed slivers are subsequently leveled on the RSB-autoleveller drawframe and carefully coiled in cans. The latest machine generation RSB-D 40 convinces with unrivaled levelling from start to finish and production speeds of up to 1 100 m/min. MACHINERY INSTALLED Pre-combing drawframes: 3 x SB-D 10 4 (+ 2 to be installed) combing preparation UNIlap E 32 Semi-automatic lap transport system SERVOtrolley 22 combers E 62, 10 combers E 65 (to be installed) Autoleveller drawframes: 2 x RSB 851, 7 x RSB 951, 5 x RSB-D 35, 4 x RSB-D 40 (to be installed)

6 Rieter. Kahatex COMFORSPIN MACHINES Production of high-competitive yarn COMFORSPIN MACHINE K 44 The ComforSpin machine K 44 from Rieter has been convincing the customers by high quality and reliability for many years. More than 1 Mio spindles are successfully producing worldwide. The K 44 is based on the proven G 33 ring spinning machine and equipped with advanced compacting technology consisting of direct driven, wear-free perforated drum, suction insert and air guide element. The fibers are condensed by an air current created by a vacuum in the perforated drum. They are fully controlled by an air stream all the way from the nip after the drafting zone to the spinning triangle. The resulting fiber condensation reduces the spinning triangle to a minimum and eliminates fiber loss at this point. Most important features of the K 44 are: SERVOgrip for doffing without underwinding FLEXIdraft push-button setting of main draft and yarn twist without gear changes ROBOdoff reliable doffing in less than 2 min ROBOload fully automated, reliable and rapid cops removal and tube loading system MACHINERY INSTALLED 34 K 44 ComforSpin machines with 1 008 spindles each are in operation and a further 14 K 44 with 1 008 and 24 K 44 with 1 200 spindles will be installed in the near future giving 77 184 spindles in total.

Rieter. Kahatex 7 COM4 COMPACT YARN Innovative yarn character TOUCH THE FUTURE WITH COM4 YARNS To be successful in the market, Kahatex focuses on spinning and processing exclusively compact yarns. The made investment pays off in advantages in productivity of both the spinning and the knitting/weaving machines. A total of 34 272 Rieter COM4 spindles have been installed since 2005. That Kahatex consciously decided for ComforSpin machines K 44 from Rieter shows trust in the continuous improvements and the running performance. PROPERTIES OF COM4 YARNS The perfect yarn structure and the high economic efficiency of the ComforSpin technology are the reasons behind the striking success of COM4 yarns. Controlled, intensive compacting of all fibers substantially reduces the number of protruding fibers. A higher utilization of the fibrous material results in a higher yarn tenacity, the reduced hairiness in better running properties. ADVANTAGES OF COM4 YARNS Low level of yarn breaks during processing High efficiency of the production machinery Cost reduction for sizing and de-sizing Elimination of singeing Reduced fiber abrasion means less pilling tendency Reduced fiber fly means less foreign fiber contamination Clear structure of patterns Rieter is convinced by the success of COM4 yarns, as well as Kahatex is. The increasing market share of COM4 yarns worldwide is proof for a bright future. A distinct improvement in yarn uniformity and less weak places in the yarn are decisive advantages for spinning mills and downstream processors. Compact yarns enable numerous optimizations to be made during all processing stages. Since the market launch of the first ComforSpin machine in 1999, Rieter has been supporting its customers in spinning and processing COM4 yarns. Many textile technologists analyzed the impact of the new yarn structure in the following processing stages. Thus Rieter is able to support its customers also with knitting, weaving and finishing compact yarns.
