Beginner MAKE AND TAKE INSTRUCTIONS Summer Quarter, 2014 An attendance page entitled Following Jesus is included in this book. Each learner will add a footprint sticker from the sticker page to the attendance page each Sunday he is present. For Lesson 14 the learner will draw a set of footprints in the space. Lesson 1 - June 1, 2014 Cut out the two hearts and decorate them with the stickers from the sticker page. Staple the small heart over the larger one, aligning the staple lines marked. Learners may check their memory of the Key Verse by lifting the top heart. Lesson 2 - June 8, 2014 Color the chain and cut out the links. Have learners hook the words of the Key Verse together in order. Instruct learners to glue the chain to a piece of construction paper forming a banner. See illustration on the project. Lesson 3 - June 15, 2014 Color and cut out the Ten Commandments, Key Verse strip and guide strips. Cut out the window on the Ten Commandments. Tape the edges of the guide strips (see back of project) so that the Key Verse will slide between the Ten Commandments. Pass the Key Verse strip behind the opening to read the verse. Lesson 4 - June 22, 2014 Have learners place stickers of Jonah, the ship and the big fish on the map as learners join the teacher in retelling the Bible story. Lesson 5 - June 29, 2014 Cut on the solid lines; fold on the dotted lines. Assemble by putting the page numbers in order. Add the sticker to page 1. Read the booklet and review the stories studied thus far in the quarter. Lesson 6 - July 6, 2014 Color and cut out the heart pieces. Match the hearts at the dots, placing the broken heart on top. Fasten the heart pieces together with a paper fastener. Add the hearts sticker. Open the broken heart to read and learn the Key Verse. Lesson 7 - July 13, 2014 Color the letters in light colors so that the printing shows through. Cut out and glue the letters to a sheet of construction paper. Frame it with another piece of construction paper cut slightly larger. See illustration on project page. Put this poster on your refrigerator door to remind you of the lesson you learned in today s lesson. Lesson 8 - July 20, 2014 Place the continent stickers from the sticker page on the world. Place the Go and Tell banner across the world as a reminder of our job as missionaries. Find the home of a missionary your church supports on the world.
Lesson 9 - July 27, 2014 Color and add stickers from the sticker page. Add jewels to David s crown and put Jonah inside the fish. Cut slits as indicated. See illustration on project. Place each picture on a pencil or straw. Lesson 10 - August 3, 2014 Fold the make and take sheet on the solid lines as indicated on the back of the project. When folded, cut out heart shape on the dotted line. Unfold the project and glue colored construction paper or cellophane on the back side of the sheet so that the hearts show the contrasting color. Fold the sheet into a rectangular box. Tape the edges together. Punch two holes as indicated at the top through which to tie yarn. See illustration on the back of project. Lesson 11 - August 10, 2014 Cut out the two parts of the tent. Fold and tape the sides together as indicated. Cut on the line to form door and fold flaps back. Lay the roof on top of the structure. See illustration on project. Explain that Paul made tents to help pay for his food, housing and clothes. Most churches met in homes and many could not pay a pastor as we do today. Lesson 12 - August 17, 2014 Cut out the earth. Glue it to the bottom of a 12'' x 18'' sheet of dark construction paper. Arrange the stars from the sticker page around the earth so that the Key Verse is in order. Read and memorize the Key Verse. Lesson 13 - August 24, 2014 1. Remove the Key Verse page. See illustration on back of project. 2. Decorate the front of the wind sock with stickers from the sticker page and colorful drawings by learners. 3. Fold the top of the wind sock and put tape along the fold to reinforce the holes for the yarn hanger. 4. Punch holes through the reinforced edge on the X s for the yarn hanger. 5. On back of the wind sock, tape or glue narrow streamers of crepe paper along the bottom. 6. Roll the wind sock into a cylinder and tape the edges together. 7. Attach the yarn string through the holes punched in step four. 8. Read the wind sock to see Paul s message to the unsaved people. Lesson 14 - August 31, 2014 Cut out the bookmark invitation around the outer edges. Fold along the dotted line. Open and use a glue stick on the inside of one half. Fold the other side over it and press it together to make the bookmark. Stamp or write your church name and address at the bottom of the message. Challenge learners to give the invitation to someone who does not go to church. They can be bold like Paul by sharing with at least one person the joy of knowing Jesus.
