COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Legal Session Part 1: Safeguarding Kohler s Research & Development Craig Loest, Lead IP Attorney for Kohler Co., and Aaron Mitchell, Senior IP Attorney for Kohler Co., will focus on Kohler s strategy for safeguarding its Research & Development with effective intellectual property (IP) protection. This session will also provide insight into recent strategic initiatives and their corresponding impact on the IP portfolio. Legal Session Part 2: A Primer on U.S. Export Controls and Know Your Customer Kohler Legal along with International Trade Compliance will be discussing a general overview of the evolving U.S. export laws and regulations and their importance to Kohler Co. and all its U.S. and Foreign Subsidiaries. This will include addressing a summary of the Export Administration Regulations for commercial products, what parties and entities are covered and compliance best practices. Driving Business Results as a Talent Champion Justin Dillmore, Senior Executive Advisor for the Corporate Executive Board, will be presenting on leaders as talent champions. This session will focus on the CEB s research into what makes an effective talent champion and why it is so impactful to business results. He will also share best practices from companies who drive superior results through strong talent management. Understanding the Changing World of Work and Steve Scialabba, Senior Vice President Practice Leader Caliper, will be discussing how today s business environment is reshaping how work gets done. Tom and Steve will discuss this topic through the unique lens of the Caliper Profile and provide specific insights on how leaders can better identify and develop talent who will thrive in today s fast-paced environment. The Role of the Leader in Driving Change Phil Eastman, Lead Advisor and Master Instructor for Prosci will discuss the most important activities leaders can do to drive effective change through an organization. He will focus on the tools and resources that increase organizational change capability and the unique role of the leader in sponsoring change initiatives. Note: Phil presented to a group at the last EMT. This session is targeting people who were unable to attend in October. Strengthening the Leadership Voice Expert communications specialist Teri Goudie will provide an essential review of the importance, methodology and approach to message training. She will lead an engaging session about how understanding and practicing message delivery skills are critical in today s connected environment, as well as work with the group to review relevant messages within their respective markets. Caliper Team Dynamics Session Join Thomas Schoenfelder and Steve Scialabba from Caliper to learn about new Caliper analytical tools that provide deeper insight into individual behaviors and team preferences. You will receive customized reports for your team that will help you understand strengths, support team effectiveness and lead more effectively.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS David Gordon David Gordon, who spent more than ten years working at the highest levels of U.S. foreign and national security policy processes, provides clients with his perspective of U.S. and global macro issues from Washington. Formerly the Eurasia chairman, he directed the research platform and helped steer the firm s analysis for several years. From 2007 to 2009, David served as the director of policy planning under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He played a leading role in developing policy ideas for Rice on issues ranging from Afghanistan and Pakistan to U.S. engagement in East Asia to the multilateral response to the international financial crisis. He also led the department s strategic policy dialogues with more than 20 countries around the globe. Prior to his work with the U.S. Department of State, David served in a top management role at the National Intelligence Council (NIC) from 2004 to 2007, during which time he led the NIC s integration into the new Office of the Director of National Intelligence and its reemergence as the preeminent analytic center in the U.S. government through enhancing analytic quality and integrity in the aftermath of the 2003 Iraq National Intelligence Estimate. He provided analytical leadership for the NIC s groundbreaking reports, Global Trends 2015 and Global Trends 2020. David received his doctorate from the University of Michigan and has taught at the College of William & Mary, Princeton University, Georgetown University and the University of Nairobi. His book Managing Strategic Surprise: Lessons from Risk Management and Risk Assessment (Cambridge University Press, 2007) was coedited with Ian Bremmer and Paul Bracken. Nadya Zhexembayeva Called The Reinvention Guru (in Venture magazine) and The Queen of Reinvention (TEDxNavesink), Dr. Nadya Zhexembayeva is a business owner, educator, speaker and author specializing in reinvention. As an author, Nadya has written two books (Embedded Sustainability: The Next Big Competitive Advantage in 2011 and Overfished Ocean Strategy: Powering Up Innovation for a Resource-Deprived World in 2014) and contributed to five others. In an effort to reinvent corporate approaches to sustainability strategy, Nadya and her coauthor Chris Laszlo coined the concept embedded sustainability, which was virtually nonexistent when they started in 2009. Today it produces 25+ million Google search results and has become a staple for corporate sustainability efforts. Dominic Wilcox Dominic Wilcox gives inspirational talks on creativity, innovation and finding ideas based around his wide range of art and design work. The talk is appropriate to any company, organization or group of individuals who wish to be more innovative. Recent audiences include brands such as Red Bull and the world s largest public relations company, Edelman, and at conferences for engineers, National Health Service health experts and technology researchers.
