Page 3 Love Easel Card Layers, layers, layers! This card will stand up on its own for a pretty display. Make a regular square card; fold the front of the card in half horizontally (this will be the base card). Cut another square the same size (this will be the actual front of the card) and attach this to the bottom fold of the front (base card). Decorate as you like, then add a button or some quilling on the inside of the card to hold the front of the card in place when opened. Rose Frame The beautiful colors of the quilling strips were the inspiration for this project. I crackled finished the frame with gold as the first layer, then black as the top coat. I added simple folded roses starting with darkest on bottom graduating to lightest at the top. This would be great for a Valentine or a gift anytime!
con t from pg3 Page 4 Hanging Heart I just cut strips from the cardstock and glued six together at the bottom. For the top, I divided them with three on each side. Adjust the strip length for the smaller loops and the medium loops; you can cut them as you glue making sure to cut the same amount off of each side. Next add a ribbon in between the loops for hanging; glue securely. I added a bit of quilling to the bottom of the heart to finish it off. Last I added a scalloped heart punched from the cardstock that was decorated with flowers as the focal point. This would make a cute project for the room moms to do at the Valentine Parties!
Page 5 Rose Heart Frame This month s kit has the cutest heart frame that begs to be embellished. I painted it light pink and sprayed it with a candy apple red glimmer mist. Using the shades of pink quilling strips, I added two simple hearts with a crimped border. The pink card stock and a medium pear punch were used to make the floral punch roses, and the edges were inked with a darker pink. The white accent flowers were punched from the white pearl paper in the kit and have a textured pearl center. I ll need a new picture of my grandkids to go in it! Quilled Heart Necklace Custom Quillint I had to make another jewelry piece and wanted see if the colored strips would work as well. I think they did, and I gilded them with a 24kt paint pen easily. A heart shape was used as a pattern to assemble the shaped teardrops, s scrolls and heart shapes. The heart medallion has a 3 layer crimped border and was mounted onto filigree angel wings for stability. Red crystals, side accents, and red bead and crystal accents drops were added to finish. My oldest daughter asked what I was going to do with it, - hint, hint.
con t from pg5 Page 6 Rose Cake Box I have been wanting to make a tiered box cake for a while and when I saw the pretty pinks for flowers, I knew it was the time. Two rounded square papier-mâché boxes were painted the same light pink to match the frame and sprayed with bubble gum glimmer mist that gives the cake a pearly look. Three pinks were used to punch the rose petals, which then had their edges inked for depth. The same white icing flowers were used as accents and inked leaves. The icing border is a pre-pleated ribbon and looks just like cake icing. For the top icing border and bow I used a patterned pink ribbon. Quilled hearts are nestled among the roses. The top box is glued to the lid of the bottom box and both can be filled with whatever gift or trinkets you like.
