WOKSHOP Open problems in algebraic hyperstructure theory and applications September 24-26, 2011 This workshop was supported by CNCS - UEFISCDI, project number PN II - IDEI/ WE-002/2011. Workshop dedicated to Professor Ion Creangă - 100 years from birth Ion Creangă (1911-1987) was a leading figure of the Romanian education and mathematics. He initiated thousands of students into the mysteries of algebra and number theory, wrote reference books for students in the algebra: Linear Algebra (1962), Introduction to tensor calculation (1962), Introduction to number theory (1965), Algebraic introduction in computer science (1973), Algebra (1973), Coding theory (1975) and others. Professor Ion Creangă wrote over 75 original studies in several areas of mathematics. Titles of "Professor Emeritus" and "Scientist Emeritus" came to confirm his outstanding teaching and scientific activity. In addition to teaching and research, Professor Ion Creanga fulfilled management positions at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi: Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (1949-1953), Vice Rector (1953-1955), Rector (1955-1972). 1
