MUDSOCK MESSENGER Meetings: 2 nd Monday of each month Fishers United Methodist Church 9691 East 116th Street, Fishers, Indiana [Website] mudsockquiltersguild.org From the President s Sewing Desk Greetings and happy summer from your new president. We are all going to miss Val, and we wish her well as she moves to Arizona. When I came to my first Mudsock meeting in September of 2015, Val was one of the first quilters who welcomed me, so she will always have a special place in my heart. Since then, I have enjoyed meeting and sewing with all of you! I feel privileged to know such talented and generous women. Our guild continues to grow, and I hope to get to know more of you as the year progresses. Thanks to all who have volunteered to help me as I fulfill my responsibilities as president and finish out the year as vice president and program chair. Please feel free to remind me of things that I should be doing or ways to improve. We have an exciting schedule for the rest of the year, including our bus trip to Missouri Star in October. Start thinking about small projects and patterns to share for holiday gift ideas at the August meeting. With summer in full swing, it is harder to find time to sew. There are lots of other things that occupy our time like family gatherings, outdoor activities, gardening and yard work, etc. There s not much on TV to watch, so I find myself in my sewing room in the late afternoons and evenings. I just have to try to keep my various projects organized. I July 2017 Volume 7, Issue 7 July BIRTHDAYS Happy B-Day to: 04 Judy Elwartowski 06 Julia Dudis 07 Judy Ireland 13 Anne Hart 13 Diane Peterson 13 Joanie Riddle 14 Wanda Linville 19 Sue Griffith 20 Gloria Stahlhut 24 Christine Logsdon 25 Susan Breeden 27 Carlene Clark 28 Nancy Frye 29 Mari Langowski 31 Jane Dustman Welcome to New Members! usually have several going at once, and my long arm has been busy too. I really enjoy the occasional rainy day, when I have a good excuse to hibernate to my sewing room. I get lots done on those days! Looking forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting! Happy sewing! Sandy Metzger ============================================================================= JULY 10TH--Mudsock Quilters Guild Meeting (9:30 11:30+) The next Mudsock Quilters Guild meeting is July 10 at the usual meeting place at Fishers United Methodist Church. We will be having a presentation by Judy Ireland, one of our members, and several other accomplished fiber artists. They will discuss fiber arts, how they got involved, their specialties, and they will show us some of their favorite pieces. Hope to see you all there! Submitted by Sandy Metzger, Program Chair Quilts for Community North Hospital - Make Just One The push is on...we need more quilts. We currently have 84 quilts which is awesome but we need more. At the beginning of the year I asked the guild members to make just one. Now I am praying each member will make one quilt (complete with quilting) or we will not reach our goal of 200. Remember you can get reimbursement for the batting and the back fabric up to $60. Our guidelines are on the web site but size average is 50" x 60" all cotton fabrics and cotton batting. This project is such a blessing and you will not know what a blessing it is to you until you donate a quilt for the good of someone else less fortunate than yourself. Any questions or need help, please contact me. Diane Peterson (317) 550-9080 Page 2 of 6
