Do not cast off, instead cut yarn (about 15 inches) and thread through the remaining 4 stitches, pull tight. This will be the bottom of the spikes, arrange them first on the hedgehog and pin the 4 stitches to the bottom of the body: Now arrange spikes on body- it will be tight, pin in place to head. Make sure you center the spike opening to the eyes. Arrange the head of the spike to the head of the body- the side seams above the cast offs will be in the center above the eyes: With Dark Brown yarn, and starting at the top of the head, sew side seams together down to cast offs around the face. Now with dark brown yarn, sew all around the spikes attaching this piece to the body. Nose: Start with Light Brown yarn- Cast on 16 stitches Row 1: (wrong side) Purl across (16) Row 2: *K2tog* 3 times, knit the next stitch, Inc in the next 2 stitches, knit the next stitch, *K2tog* 3 times (12) Row 3: Purl across (12) Row 4: *K2tog* 2 times, knit the next stitch, Inc in the next 2 stitches, knit the next stitch, *K2tog* 2 times (10) Row 5: Purl across (10) Row 6: *K2tog* 2 times, Inc in the next 2 stitches, *K2tog* 2 times (8) Row 7: P2tog across (4) Change to Dark Brown Yarn. Row 9: Purl across (8) Row10: K2tog across (4) Do not cast off, instead cut yarn (about 15 inches) and thread through the remaining 4 stitches, pull tight- Use this tail to sew up the seams of the dark brown section. Stuff firmly. Now using light brown yarn, sew side seams to cast on edge. Stuff nose firmly. Arrange nose to face between eyes, and using light brown yarn, sew to face. Ears: Make 2. With Light Brown yarn- Cast on 4 stitches Row 1: (wrong side) Purl across (4) Row 2: Inc in each stitch knitwise (8) Row 3: Purl across (8) Row4: K2Tog across (4) Do not cast off, instead cut yarn (about 15 inches) and thread through the remaining 4 stitches, pull tight- Use this tail to sew up the seams. Arrange and sew ears to top of head. Arrange to each side and sew arms onto body. Arrange and sew feet to bottom of body. Scarf: With Red yarn- Cast on 4 stitches Row 1: (wrong side) *purl 1, knit 1* repeat across (4) Row 2: *purl 1, knit 1* repeat across (4) Continue in this pattern for as long as you want your scarf- The scarf in the photo measures 25 inches and is very long. To make a smaller scarf- work pattern until scarf measures at least 18 inches. Make or purchase a 1 inch white pom-poms and attach the pom-poms to each end of the scarf, and wrap scarf around neck.
