Stitchin' News What s in store at Always In Stitches 1808 E. Conner St., Noblesville, IN (317) 776-4227 www.alwaysinstitches1.com Oct. 24, 2012 Knit a little, laugh a lot doing new service project Practice keeping a straight face because you re going to get some curious stares and dubious glances when you tell people what you re making for our new service project, Knitted Knockers. Learn to use Handi Quilter from company educator Debby Brown, a national Handi Quilter educator, will teach four free classes in our shop that will give quilters the confidence they need to turn their quilting visions into reality. What an opportunity for anyone who owns a Handi Quilter machine or has one on a Christmas wish list! Sweet 16 (including TNT, rulers, marking techniques, Tru Stitch) 10:30-1:30, Nov. 5 Continuous Line Quilting 2-4:30, Nov. 5 Avante trunk show + Pro-Stitcher 10:30-1:30, Nov. 6 Rulers 2-4:30, Nov. 6 There may be a double D knocker in your knitting bag, but there s no double entendre about the name. Knitted Knockers are breast prostheses for mastectomy patients. They are knitted in the shape of a breast and can include nipples because some women prefer perky breasts, according to the pattern, which takes 2-3 hours to complete. Instead of heavy, hot and expensive silicone prostheses, many women prefer these lightweight, washable and soft knitted ones. Leftover yarn can be used for the knockers. Cotton or soft wool is best; acrylics should be avoided. The free pattern is available at Always In Stitches, and if you ll bring in your knockers never thought we d write that in a newsletter! we ll ship them to a cancer center, where and all joking ends here they will make a real difference in some woman s life. Debby started teaching longarm quilting in 2004 and teaches at shows all around the world. Since starting her business, Highered Hands, in 2000, she has quilted more than 3,000 quilts. Class size is limited. Sign up today via email (capi@alwaysinstitches1.com), phone (317-776- 4227) or in person when you re shopping. "Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us." Psalm 90:17

Become a cutting whiz at new Go! Baby Club Lesson learned: Don t send Stephanie to a class if you don t want her to come back energized and full of ideas and fun for our customers. Sewing is done, now show us your quilt The City Streets & Traffic Jams mystery has been solved, and hopefully no one had to call a tow truck to help with their quilt. We will host a Reveal Party for all who participated in this mystery quilt project from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 30. It s our roundabout way of saying thanks for participating. Bring your quilt and come in to see how different each looks due to fabric color selection. Cookies and punch will be provided. Most recently, she trained at Accuquilt Headquarters, learning how to use the various machines that are part of their cutting line. Now she s launching a monthly Go! Baby Club where members will learn a new technique, swap dyes and exchange ideas with other members. Videos and demos will be part of each session, and members will get to use our shop dyes during meetings and our Studio System for free. At the first meeting, 1:30 on Nov. 10, you ll work on a fall wall hanging that will be an eye-popper at your Thanksgiving celebration. The monthly fee is $10.The club will meet on the second Saturday of the month, through April. Buy a stash, save big cash Candy corn and caramel apples just lost their firstplace status among the best things about fall. Our fabric sale is even sweeter. All fall and Halloween fabric on the bolt, all panels and all kits with panels (no matter what season) are 25 percent off through Oct. 31. Save 25 cents on every dollar you spend! The selection is large and conveniently displayed all in one area near the front of the shop. But the sooner you get here, the larger the selection will be. At these prices, the best treats won t last until Halloween. Become our fan on Facebook Kalendar Club: a stitch in time Here's a fun way to watch the months fly by, and it s something for all skill levels, including beginners. Members of Kazoo s Kalendar Club will create a calendar panel for the following month from the book Count On It at each 2- hour session. Kathy Kazoo Zook will lead the club and teach many techniques along the way through the year. The monthly fee is $20, including fabric. The club will meet the first Tuesday of the month starting Nov. 6.

Knitting time hard to find? Book yourself at our Knit In It s time for another one of our popular and fun Knit Ins! This 8 ½-hour event on Nov. 15 and 16 will let you enjoy uninterrupted time with your needles, yarn and other knitting enthusiasts. Relax in our comfy shop, where you could win a door prize and will get discounts and fellowship. Call now to hold your spot. The fee is $15. We appreciate you using our products when participating in this event. Cross-stitcher shares work as Fiber Artist of the Month Debbie Kos says she has been obsessed with crossstitching for more than 40 years and she s crocheted since she was a child. She s sharing some of her work with AIS customers as our Fiber Artist of the Month. Wrap yourself for the holidays A Wingspan Shawl is the perfect new wrap for the holidays for yourself or a wonderful gift for a friend. It drapes lightly over your shoulders, adding an extra bit of color and is a real eyecatcher. It is so attractive, in fact, it has become a top-rated pattern on Ravelry.com. Learn to make the shawl at a two-part class, 10:30-12:30 Nov. 2 and 1-3 Nov. 16. The pattern is free and a supply list is available. Knitting specialist Penny Little will lead the class, which has a $25 fee. Find us on Pinterest Find a whimsical crocheted Santa, cross-stitched Halloween and Thanksgiving samplers, beautiful small pillows and elegant hangings in her display, which is set up near the Yarn Department by the longarm quilter Debbie lives in Carmel, and has been happily married to my best friend Chet, for over 30 years, she said. One of her three children, Jackie, will be a first-time Memere around Christmas, when Debbie s grandbaby, Lily, is expected. Anyone can be a Fiber Artist of the month, and that includes you. Ask any sales specialist for an application. Exhibitors are selected by a random drawing; there s no jurying or judging process involved. We know how much care you put into your sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, or felting. Show others your work, no matter kind of needlecraft you do.
