Meeting Dates 5. 2016 Retreat 6. Fun, Done and Beautiful 7. Retreat Photos Greetings from Hanson Hi Sewing Sisters! We braved frigid temperatures to load and unload our cars for our much anticipated retreat in Plymouth...I didn t think I had that much stuff but apparently I did! What a fabulous time we had it was truly wonderful to welcome our newest members to our fun weekend and to share techniques, stories, laughs and of course.chocolate. (Admittedly, I decided to wait a few days before stepping on the scale!) It was over way too soon, but I got a lot done on my projects and can t wait for next year. Thanks so much to our organizers for a fabulous weekend. Board Members 2015-2016 Chair: Jeanne Aurelio Co-Chair: Tracey Phillips Treasurer: Cathy Hodges Treasurer Assistant: Joanne Donovan Secretary: Chris Thierfelder Charity: Joyce Hochstrasser/Jo Fruzzetti Facilities: Pat McCollem/Pat O Leary Membership/Hospitality: Gina Stone Newsletter Editors: Julia Blanchard/Jill Lillie Web Site: Rose Perry Programming: Member Volunteers Upcoming Quilt Shows Quinobequin Quilters Friday April 1 10 AM 8 PM Saturday April 2 10 AM 4 PM Needham Masonic Lodge 1101 Highland Avenue Needham, MA (Exit 19B off Rt. 95, 1 mile on right) Admission: $7.00 - Jill From the Chair My T&F Retreat memories! Wasn t our quilt retreat fun? I know I had a great time I got three projects well started and one quilt layered, I learned a new binding technique, and I was inspired by walking around and seeing what you were working on! The extra day was a welcome gift for me. I hope Hotel 1620 will set up that early every year. It seems like that will happen next year! We also made progress on our meeting agenda for the next two years. Most members who attended the retreat filled out our agenda questionnaire, ranking our guild-generated choices for meeting workshops. If you did not, you will be receiving the questionnaire by email. Please fill it out and bring it to our next meeting March 5, or send your ranking to me by return email. On March 5, we will also work on charity quilts or table runners. Be sure to bring your sewing machine. Bring your own fabric or use a charity quilt kit provided free-of-charge by Joyce. She has worked hard to cut and assemble donated fabric into these kits. Many thanks to her! Keep On Quilting! - Jeanne

Meeting Dates Planning Ahead Here are the potential meeting dates for our guild year 2016-2017. Think about what you can do to fill these spots with a workshop or guest speaker! September 17 October 1 November 5 December 3 January 7 January 28 February March 4 April 1 May 6 Meeting Dates Holiday Party Retreat Tea Party Here are the meeting and event dates for the remainder of the year. Meeting times are 10:15 AM 2 PM. March 5 Charity quilts and table runners April 2 May 7 Shop Hop Tracey Phillips and Janice O Gara End of the year party TBA 2016 Retreat What a great time we all had at our annual retreat! The theme of Back to Basics, Keep it Simple was just perfect. No one let the sub zero temperatures put a damper on our weekend fun. We enjoyed sewing, chatting and snacking surrounded by quilting friends. The Retreat Fun Committee would like to send a shout out of thanks to Joanne Fruzzetti for sewing all the water bottle holders. Each attendee received a custom Thimbles and Friends Quilt Guild lanyard that Joyce ordered online. Janice provided a stunning array of little handmade bags that she had sewn over the past few weeks. Sue- Ellen warmed us all with a basketful of soft cozy socks to share. Over the weekend, we had eight drawings with quilt fabric as prizes and a few rounds of the LCR game. Joyce won the first game and Pat McCollem won the second round. Each of the winners took home more than a dozen fat quarters as a prize! There was plethora of beautiful and colorful quilts hanging from the many design boards around the work room! It is impressive to see the variety of quilt projects in process around the room and the camaraderie of members sharing their design walls, sewing techniques, and quilt pinning skills. Special thanks to Joanne Donovan for working with the facility to keep our prices affordable this year despite the change in hotel management. There was a slight moment of disappointment when the perennial favorite, Strawberry Trifle was missing at lunch, but Joanne was able to motivate the staff to prepare one for us within minutes. A great time was had by all who attended and we can't wait to go again next year!!! Thanks from the Fun Committee: Janice, Sue-Ellen & Joyce Have Something to Say? Terrific job Hailey you should be so proud of your wonderful work! We know your grandmother is.

Retreat Photos Joanne and Pat prep us for the retreat. Don t forget these!! (It s been known to happen.) Julia and Wendy with Julia s dad, Fernando (aka Cosmo!) He couldn t wait to visit us! Busy fingers. Our gadget queen. Doing what they love best!

Planning it all out takes time and concentration. Always plenty of chocolate available! Here are the girls with Michelle from Homestead Quilting in Lakeville. Nothing puts a smile on your face like supporting your local quilt shop!
