The Baltic Sea Region: Yesterday: - the longer regional collaboration remains on auto-pilot, the more opportunities for benefitting from more ambitious joint actions are being missed ; - the structures for regional collaboration themselves are going to be weakened and lose relevance due to a lack of political leadership ; - to urge for setting an example for effective regional collaboration that can help inspire the wider EU as it is struggling to redefine its role and structures for a new era (cited by: The State of the Region Report 2015 by Baltic Development Forum ) Today: - the new CBSS Science, Research and Innovation Agenda launched; - The new strong long-term engaging transnational projects are being developed: Baltic Science Network and BalticTRAM; - The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is being stronger than ever through new projects funded and increasing contribution from the Member States.

From EuroFaculty to Summer University or from a Dream into Pragmatic Realism -EuroFaculty is rather past story than future; - future must be settled on the flexible basis of networking and reciprocity approach; - EF and the BSR cooperation should be seen as regional common good ; - EF to bridge the chasm between catching-up in the region as well as to welcome those who are interested in the BSR from outside (i.e. Eastern Partnership, Central Asia or Western Balkans)
Baltic TRAM and Baltic Science Network as enablers for SRIA: Ministers of science considered: - To support the Baltic Science Network as an important tool to enhance a macro-regional dimension of science and research policy, from which our higher education and research institutions should benefit; - To recognise that Large-Scale Infrastructure efforts should be based on smart collaboration and attention should, where relevant, be paid to long-term capacity building as regards sustainable research communities. Poland supports the BSN efforts through University of Gdańsk, direct actions in Brussels towards policy makers and ministers during meetings and assemblies in the fields of: - establishing network and joint presentation of interest - mobility in research and higher education
Stronger together as Region and as Organisation:
