Bible Story: Noah as he built the ark (Genesis 6-9), Nehemiah in the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 1-6), The friends who lowered a crippled man through a roof to be healed by Jesus (Mark 2:1-12) Memory Verse: 2 Thessalonians 3:13 As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. (NLT) WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE ACTIVITIES? Super Hero Training Course (Opening Activity) This will show the children that while there are many things a person gets tired of doing, they should never tire of doing good. Skit & Bible Stories (Large Group Activity) The Skit and Bible stories this week will help the children learn that they should never give up doing good. Hero Training (Small Group Activity) younger Hero Training will help the children improve their Bible skills as well as give them some ways they can practice never giving up doing good. Super Hero Story (Small Group Activity) Super Hero Story will help children become aware of the good things that they can do and be encouraged to never give up doing them. Super Hero Secret Code (Small Group Activity) older Super Hero Secret Code will help the children improve their Bible skills. The better a child understands the Bible, the better he or she will be at knowing what God considers to be good. They will also find examples of people who did not give up doing good. What Would Have Happened If (Small Group Activity) This will help the children see that just like the characters in today s Bible stories chose to do good, they need to always choose to do good as well. Be a Hero Never Give Up Doing Good (Small Group Activity) This activity will help the children see that in order to be a hero for God, they must practice doing good every day. Bible Review Comic Strip (Small Group Activity) Bible Review Comic Strip will help the children visually remember the Bible stories they heard about never giving up doing good. Stop Robotor! (Large Group Activity) Stop Robotor! is a strategic time to review and reinforce the content of the lesson. 2006 Fellowship Church
Heroes of Mega City LESSON 1: HEROES NEVER GIVE UP DOING GOOD! Teacher & Co-Teacher version - Watch & Train DVD Materials/Props needed: nothing. 1 # 1 Lead the children through the opening activity Super Hero Training Course. Begin Worship Time 1 logo (CD Track # 1) Hey everybody, welcome to our brand new series: Heroes! CO- Yes! I so have been looking forward to this. I ve been reading nothing but comic books day and night for the past three months just to get ready! Really? Just comic books? Yeah! CO- Hmm, that s a bit concerning but um...okay. CO- I am now the foremost authority on what it takes to be a super hero! Go ahead, ask me something? Anything? Um...Okay, what is the first thing a super hero should do when they start to train? CO- Ha! That s an easy one! (speaks in official know-it-all tone) The very first thing a hero is supposed to do is...um...uh. Could I get a hint? 2 # 1 Sure, the first thing a hero does to start their training is get up, get moving and get noisy with a song! Everybody stand up and sing this song with me! CO- Oh yeah...i knew that. Note: Teacher & Co-Teacher lead the children in singing the song. (CD Track # 1) Wow, I m feeling warmed up after that song! (to Co-Teacher) How about you? 2 song 1 2006 Fellowship Church
Heroes of Mega City CO- I m a little tired actually. I guess I should have worked in some exercise in between all that comic book reading. Indeed you should have. (to children) You ve probably guessed by now that this whole series is going to be about super heroes. We re going to learn what it takes to be a real super hero in our everyday lives! CO- Yes, it takes super powers! What? CO- You know, super powers. And not the goofy ones either, like being able to turn yourself into a pencil. I mean the cool ones like super strength and flying! Well, actually there s a lot more to being a super hero than just powers. CO- You bet there is! You also gotta have a cool costume! Um...that s not what I meant either. Futuristic gadgets? No. A cape? No. A secret base? No. CO- CO- CO- CO- It s gotta be a secret identity. No! None of those things. What makes us heroes is our character and our attitude. Who we are on the inside and how we act on the outside is far more important than super powers or secret bases. 2 2006 Fellowship Church
Heroes of Mega City There are certain character qualities we need in order to be real heroes. CO- What kind of qualities do we need? We ll find that out soon, but first I need a volunteer. (Teacher chooses a volunteer from the audience.) Come on up here. I want to see how many push ups you can do. Do as many as you can and the rest of us will keep count. Note: Child will perform as many pushups as they can and stop when they get tired. Wow, you did a good job on those push-ups! You can go ahead and sit back down. Let s all give him/her a big round of applause. There s only so many push-ups we can do. Eventually, we ll get tired and have to give up. But there is one thing we should never give up doing. 3 What s that? CO- We should never give up doing good. And that s today s main point! Heroes Never Give Up Doing Good! Note: Teacher leads the children by fi rst demonstrating the main point with motions, or have a child come and help decide motions. Then have the children repeat the main point two or three times. point 3 main CO- So, not giving up doing good, is a quality of a super hero? Yes, it s a very important quality of super heroes. CO- I don t remember reading that in any of my comic books. 4 You read the wrong book. It s right here in the Bible. Check out our verse for today: 2 Thessalonians 3:13 As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. NLT 4 Bible verse CO- Wow! Yeah, now that I think about it, it would be hard to be a good super hero if you gave up doing good. You re right! Doing good isn t always easy though. In fact, there are some people in Mega City that know all about how hard doing good can be. 3 2006 Fellowship Church

Just watch this and it will all make sense. Note: Play Skit/Bible Story video followed by Super Hero Challenge. CO- That was cool. Those guys never gave up doing good. intro 5 Skit 6 Skit Outro Yeah, and we should be the same way. We ll probably never get chased by clown henchmen or missiles but doing the right thing won t always be easy. We may want to give up, but God wants us to never tire of doing good. And you know what I never get tired of doing? What? CO- 7 song 7 8 #2 9 #1 10 I never get tired of worshipping God! Everyone stand with me and help me sing this next worship song.
