Event Overview Myanmar Oil & Gas Week was launched on 24 26 February 2014 at the Traders Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar. The week comprised of an exhibition, conference and workshops. Myanmar Oil & Gas Week is officially supported by Myanmar Ministry of Energy, Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise and Myanmar Energy Planning Department. Myanmar Oil & Gas Conference Day one commenced with an opening keynote presentation from Myanmar Minister of Energy, Zayar Aung. This was followed by Wah Wah Thaung, Executive Officer, Planning Department, Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise who gave a keynote presentation on the company s exploration and production updates. Tevin Vongvanich, President and CEO, PTT Exploration and Production continued the conversations by providing highlights from the organisation s experiences and expansion strategy for entering Myanmar. Mariano Vela, President, Unocal Myanmar Offshore, Chevron discussed lessons learnt from the energy sector in Thailand. Day one was divided in two streams ( Foreign Investment Stream and Data Analysis Stream ) to give attendees a more customised networking and learning experience. 3/25/2014 4
Myanmar Oil & Gas Conference Day two focused on the practical needs and challenges for developing exploration and production operations in Myanmar. Aung Kyaw Htoo, Deputy Director, Energy Planning Department began with discussions on future prospects for the Myanmar petroleum sector. The geopolitics of Myanmar was debated by Silk Road Finance, Maplecroft, International Institute for Strategic Studies and Vriens & Partners in a panel discussion. Vicky Bowman, Director, Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business and former British Ambassador to Myanmar presented findings from a study on how oil and gas activities impacts the community. Total E&P Myanmar also gave advice on developing leadership programmes. The conference concluded with a panel session on how to maximise economic benefits for Myanmar through developing the workforce and local content on both a community and national level. 3/25/2014 5
Myanmar Oil & Gas Exhibition Myanmar Minister of Energy, Zayar Aung participated at the opening of the Myanmar Oil & Gas Exhibition. His first-time attendance was met with great anticipation from all participants and highlights the strong government support for this important event. The exhibition attracted over 312 visitors from local and regional oil and gas companies, along with service providers and government officials from across 17 countries. 10 exhibitors also participated at the exhibition, including PTT Exploration and Production, Myanmar Ministry of Energy and Parami Energy Group of Companies. 3/25/2014 6
