September / October 2014 Page 2 JOIN US FOR a Trunk Show Wed Sept 10 6:30-8:30 PM Monika Stramaglia s machine knitting classes are starting to fill up so please get your name in soon. And remember she will be presenting a trunk show on WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 10th 6:30 8:30 pm. Come and see how creative you can be. If you don t have a machine don t worry Monika can supply you with one for the classes. See a collection of garments, scarves, shawls and blankets created on a very basic knitting machine. Monika will include a discussion about the various types of machines, and a short demo on the LK150. Basics of Machine Knitting A three session class, where you will learn casting on and off, basic knitting, increasing and decreasing, short rowing. This class also works as a great refresher course. If there is enough interest the course will run a second time. Saturday, Oct 25, Nov 1 & Nov 8, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Students are required to bring their own machines, in good working order, and yarns appropriate to their machine. Once you have your beautiful Hand dyed yarn take Deb s Class on October 4th use it to make the custom mittlets or mittens. MITTLETS or MITTENS by FORMULA: 4 hour Session. Throw away your mittlet/mitten patterns. You ll never need another mittlet/mitten pattern again. Learn to knit a mittlet/mitten in the round with a percentage system. It s easy and versatile. With a little, very little, math you are ready to go. You ll be able to add a stitch pattern to the back of the hand, work a really easy thumb and adjust the pattern to make either mittens or fingerless mittlets. September / October Page 4 The ladies had so much fun last month felting Table runners we thought we would have Loree back to run the class again, only this time you can use the super soft merino roving s and have a divinely soft scarf. See some pictures below. INTRODUCTION to WET FELTING Project: Felted Table Runner (approximately 3' long x 1' wide) OR Felted scarf Date: Thursday, October 9th. Time: 1:00 to 4:00 (daytime class) OR 6:00 to 9:00 (evening class) Please Bring: comfy clothing and shoes, large bath towel. Wearing limited jewelry is recommended. COURSE FEE: $55 for table runner or $65 for scarf. Includes everything needed to make either the runner or the scarf. Class policy Classes must be fully paid for in advance to reserve your spot. If we cancel we will try for a make up date that is convenient for all or refund your Money. If you cancel we will try to fill your spot from the waiting list, if we can your money will be refunded. We need at least 48 hours notice for a cancelation.
