ArtRage part of Intel Education Intuitive digital art creation Getting started with ArtRage ArtRage part of Intel Education provides intuitive tools that simulate the use of real materials to create digital art projects, encouraging the development of creativity, artistic appreciation, and visual communication. Through an intuitive interface ArtRage part of Intel Education is designed to work as a real tool for drawing and painting. ArtRage provides a set of features that allow users to test a wide range of different artistic styles, colors and professional class textures. Benefits in education Encourages the development of art appreciation, imagination and visual communication. Helps students develop creative and motor skills enhancing the brain functions. Promotes self-esteem, motivation, emotional expression and esthetic appreciation.

Main features Natural painting tools Provides natural finishes on the basis of thickness, wetness, or translucent paint. Stickers & Spray Adds pre-constructed elements to decorate a design. Sketching & Drawing Tools Draws freehand sketches. Canvas / Paper Defines the properties of the canvas such as texture and color. Special Effect Tools Creates decorated scenes or add an unusual touch. Tracing images Places a background image as a tracing guide. Utility tools Transforms, rotates, resizes objects. References Places an image as a reference for the user while drawing. Presets & settings Allows the use of drawing tools with predefined characteristics. Layers & Blend Modes Places the design elements in different levels facilitating their handling. Colors Displays the color picker with the corresponding color model HLS or RGB. Stencils & Rulers Creates accurate designs using stencils or rules, suitable to any drawing tool. User interface Provides a workspace that allows the user to focus on the design instead of software management. File Formats, Import & Export Provides support for the following image formats: PNG, JPG, TIFF, BMP.

Main screen and elements Menu Bar Contains basic functions for common operations such as undo, redo and quit. Tool picker Shows the tools available and allows user to set the tool size. Color picker Shows the color rainbow and allows user to select tone, hue, bright and metallic finishes. Stickers Shows the sticker sheets available. Stencils Allows the use of stencils. Settings Shows options to adjust the settings of the current tool. Presets Allows the use of drawing tools with predefined characteristics. Samples Lists the customized colors saved as samples. Layers Simplifies objects handling as manage them at independent levels. Tracing Places a background image as a tracing guide. References Places an image as a reference for the user while drawing. Gallery Includes the basic functions to control application such as new, import, export, delete, among others.

Menu Bar The menu bar contains functions that allow the user to interact with the application and perform common operations such as new painting, import image file, and save painting. Although the menu bar is only available for 8 version, the option Gallery in contains similar functions. User interface details Collapse Panel Displays or collapses the menu bar. Menu Bar Shows the functions to interact with application organized by category. File Contains commands related to the handling of files, such as open painting, save painting, print painting, among others. Edit Contains commands related to the manipulation of the images, such as copy, paste, select all, crop to selection, among others. Tools Contains the settings for all the tools. View Shows / hides the panels. Help Contains links to ArtRage support websites and help. Zoom canvas in / Zoom canvas out Zooms in or zooms out the canvas. Undo Undoes the last action. Redo Repeats the last action. Canvas positioner Rotates, zooms in or zooms out the canvas. Hide ArtRage window Shrinks the applications to the task bar or dock. Toggle window full screen Maximizes ArtRage window hiding the title bar. Quit application Closes ArtRage window.

New painting Creates a new canvas letting users to set up the name file and size, choose presets, among others. Import Imports an image file. Export Exports the painting allowing the user to save it as picture or share it through other mean or application (Bluetooth, Gmail, among others). Delete Deletes the current painting. Rotate right 90 Rotates canvas to the right 90. Rotate left 90 Rotates canvas to the left 90.

Create a new painting. Press File menú.. Select New painting.. Set up the canvas size using the options Screen size and Print Size. 4. Set up additional options using the Canvas and Tracing menus. 5. Painting tools This category includes the tool picker and the panels: settings, presets, stickers, and stencils which are arranged to the left of ArtRage window. User interface details Tool picker Shows the tools available and allows user to set the tool size. Oil brush Paints like using a firm bristled brush with oil or acrylic finishes. Watercolor Paints like using a soft bristled brush on wet or dry paper. Palette knife Mixes and spreads the paint on the canvas to produce a variety of effects. Air brush Spreads a fine spray of pigment on the painting. Ink pen Draws illustrations with precision without mixing the paint on canvas. Pencil Draws illustrations with precision, offers a wide variety of soft and hard pencils.

Paint roller Paints the canvas with solid strokes. Felt pen Draws with markers of different wetness and quality. Gloop pen Sprinkles drops of ink spreading them on the canvas. Sticker spray Sprays adhesive sheets on the canvas. Crayon Produces strokes of varying boldness depending on the pressure of the stroke. Chalk Simulates a stick of chalk responding to the pressure applied. Eraser Removes paint from the surface of the canvas. Paint tube Places lines of thick paint on the canvas for blending with other paint. Glitter tube Spreads bright colored particles on the canvas.

Selection Allows the marking of areas for other operations such as copy and paste, or transformation. Transform Allows the adjustment of paint and other objects that have already been placed on the canvas. Color sampler Samples colors from the canvas. Fill Pours large areas of paint on to the canvas that expand until they find a border they cannot flow over. Text Places text that can be edited using standard fonts, color and metallic effects. Tool size % Sets up the tool size % of the current tool. Stickers Shows the sticker sheets available. Stencils Allows the use of stencils. Settings Shows options to adjust the settings of the current tool. Presets Allows the use of drawing tools with predefined characteristics.
