We ve gone through lots of discussion so far.. 4

But still, we ve been suffering.. 5

Now it s time to SHARE and IMPLENENT the various solutions presented at the previous forum and other major water events for a concrete RESULT and better FUTURE

01. Thematic Process Collecting issues via virtual forum from various stakeholders 02. Regional Process Encouraging open discussion for each region 03. Political Process Encouraging more active participation of policy-makers than before 04. Science & Technology Process Sharing know-how & experience, Showcasing new technologies Water Expo, Side Events Developing diverse programs for people s interest and involvement 7 7

Climate change adaptive science and technology incorporate out of water box sharing success story Science and Technology Process will provide a platform to discuss creative and innovative ways

bridge the gap further investment How to share

Current and future water solutions are highly dependent on the use of scientific research, new technologies and innovation processes. We need ground breaking new approaches and technologies to solve urban water challenges. Food and fuel production are requiring ever more water due to the growth of food demand and the staggering inefficiency in water use in the agricultural sector. Rising energy demands will require more and more water.

The objectives of 7th World Water Forum Science and Technology Process (STP) are: To improve the understanding of the role of science and technology in innovating the water sector, covering leading edge, state of the art and appropriate science and technology development and application To develop guidance on the use of science and technology to implemented innovate water policies and realities, building on world-wide know-how and lessons learnt To create market and network opportunities for water problem owners and science, technology and engineering solutions providers

A. Improve the understanding of the role of science and technology in innovating the water sector, covering leading edge, state of the art and appropriate science and technology development and application A.1 Framework: Processes of Innovation A.2 White Papers: strategic insight and foresight B. Develop guidance on the use of science and technology to implement and innovate water policies, building on worldwide know-how and lessons learnt B.1 Policy Realities: the evidence base B.2 High Level Panels: gaining momentum behind Science, Technology and innovation

C. Create market and network opportunities for water problem owners and science, technology and engineering solutions providers C.1 World Water Challenge: linking problem owners with solution providers C.2 Connection: Match making end-users and suppliers in science and technology services C.3 EXPO: Experiencing science, technology and engineering services

The key words from Kickoff meeting (14-15 May 2013, Daegu) what would be the best outcomes from ST process? Communication among policy makers, scientist, and engineers Implementation mechanisms & finding actors Pathways to development (e.g. economical, technological, and social) Multi-science involvement (e.g. convergence technology) Connect other processes in World Water Forum Reflecting the need and situation of developing countries Policy Recommendations and linkages and etc.
