(B) ¾ yard ut two 4 ½ x 36 ½ strips. ut three 4 ½ x 42 strips. Sew together and cut two 4 ½ x 48 ½ strips. () BT6073 Marine Ring Dot 1 yard ut six 2 ½ x 42 strips. Sew together and cut two 2 ½ x 48 ½ strips. Backing 3 ¼ yards ut two 56 x 42 strips. Piece the strips together and trim to make the 56 x 68 pieced backing. You will also need: 56 x 68 Batting, threads to match, scissors, straight pins, acrylic ruler, rotary cutter and mat. 3

The enclosed directions were used in the construction of the original quilt. Block One ssembly 1. Place one 2 ½ Fabric square on the left side of one 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. 2. Place another 2 ½ Fabric square on the right side of the 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. This completes one // unit. 3. Repeat Steps 1-2 to make forty-eight // units total. Follow Figure 6 to sew together four 2 ½ Fabric squares, eight // units, four 2 ½ Fabric G squares, four // units and one 4 ½ Fabric F square to make one Block One. Block Two ssembly: 6. Repeat Steps 1-2 using ninety-six 2 ½ Fabric squares and forty-eight 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric strips to make forty-eight // units total (Fig. 7). Fig. 7 make 48 Fig. 8 make 24 7. Repeat Steps 1-2 using forty-eight 2 ½ Fabric squares and twenty-four 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric strips to make twenty-four // units total (Fig. 8). Block Two - make 6 8. Follow Figure 9 to sew together eight 2 ½ Fabric squares, eight // units, four // units and one 4 ½ Fabric F square to make one Block Two. Repeat to make six Block Two squares total. F Quilt Top ssembly (Refer to the quilt layout while assembling): Fig. 9 9. Sew together two Block One squares and one Block Two square to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three. 10. Sew together two Block Two squares and one Block One square to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Four. 11. Sew the four rows together in numerical order to make the 36 ½ x 48 ½ quilt top. 12. Sew one 4 ½ x 48 ½ Fabric B strip and one 2 ½ x 48 ½ Fabric H strip together, lengthwise, to make one side border. Repeat to make a second side border. Sew each border to the quilt top with the Fabric H strip against the quilt top. 13. Sew one 4 ½ x 36 ½ Fabric B strip and one 2 ½ x 36 ½ Fabric H strip together lengthwise. Sew one 6 ½ Fabric G square to each end of the strip to compete the top border. Repeat to make the bottom border. Sew each border to the quilt top with the Fabric H strip against the quilt top. 14. Layer and quilt as desired. 15. Sew the six 2 ½ x 42 Fabric D strips together end-to-end with 45º seams to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 16. Bind as desired. 5
