Affiliate Council Candidates Summary The following TPCAR Affiliates have been nominated and are willing to serve as your representatives on the 2014 Affiliate Council. Please take a moment to become familiar with their background. You will be electing a Chair-Elect, At-Large Director (not Escrow, Title or Lending), Lending Director, and Title & Escrow Director. As incoming Chair, I will also appoint an additional At-Large Director. This email will be followed next week with an opportunity to vote by electronic ballot for the candidates of your choice. CANDIDATE SUMMARIES FOR 2014 AFFILIATE COUNCIL ELECTION 2014 Chair-Elect Julie Sweeney Julie Sweeney is a Title and Escrow Account Manager for WFG National Title and serves Lenders and Real Estate Professionals throughout Pierce and South King Counties. Julie began a career in the Real Estate industry as a REALTOR in 2006. She quickly developed a reputation as a professional; hardworking, loyal and ethical with both her clients and colleagues. Serving her clients and their best interest always remains the motivation behind everything she does. Julie maintained a leadership position throughout each transaction; educating clients, communicating with all parties, and producing positive outcomes for all involved. Julie is driven to help others. Whether it is a colleague, client, friend or stranger she is there with open arms and heart. This quality combined with Julies skill set and drive makes her a great leader in our community. Julie began working with WFG National Title in September 2012. She was elected to the TPCAR Affiliates Council as the Title and Escrow Representative for 2013 and has been actively involved throughout the year in various capacities. Julie has also been involved as a member of the Women s Council of REALTORS and is passionate about being an active supporter of TPCAR and its associated organizations. She is always volunteering where there is a need. In July 2013, Julie obtained her certification as a clock hour instructor and is excited to be able to provide much needed clock hour classes to Real Estate Professionals throughout Pierce County. In her spare time, Julie enjoys spending time with her 4 ½ year old son Kelton and husband Keith. They are avid fans of the Seattle Seahawks and enjoy running, boating, camping, cooking and spending time with family and friends. I am honored to have been nominated for the 2014 Chair Elect position for TPCAR Affiliates and would be extremely proud if elected to represent such an essential organization within our industry! 2
Lending Representative 4 candidates Barbara Mooers, Jennifer Edwards, Stephanie Grassi, Venetia Killian Barbara Mooers My name is Barbara Mooers and it is an honor to be nominated as a Lending Representative for Tacoma Pierce County Association of REALTORS. I began my career in the mortgage industry more than a decade ago and have enjoyed every minute in it since then. We have seen many ups and down s during this time and I believe that those of us who have endured these changes are the better for it! I am currently a Loan Officer with Primary Residential Mortgage, INC in Tacoma, WA. I also live in Tacoma, and have been married to my husband for 26 years. We have three awesome kids ages 25, 21 and 17 and will soon become empty-nesters as our youngest will be heading off for college next fall! We are avid sports fans and enjoy travelling and visiting our local wineries. I have spent the majority of my off time volunteering at our children s schools and at our church. With these many changes in my life I find I now have more time to focus my attention back to the industry that has provided so well for myself and my family and I am excited to take on a more active role at TPCAR with all the Affiliates and REALTORS. Thank you for your consideration. Jennifer Edwards With over a decade and-a-half of experience as a lender in the mortgage industry, I have demonstrated a serious commitment to education and action. I believe in the old adage: knowledge is power, telling clients that when everyone involved in the mortgage transaction is knowledgeable, everyone will benefit My certification as a Certified Mortgage Originator from the Seattle School of Mortgage Lending goes back to 1994 with ongoing certification every year through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System I insisted on compulsory education for every mortgage loan originator in our state long before legislative mandates required it Serving the community as a certified instructor for Washington State Housing Finance Commission Home Buyer Education classes, and As a licensed clock-hour instructor through the WA Department of Licensing, I teach continuing education classes for real estate brokers Also, Co-Chairing & volunteering with the TPCAR Annual Food Sort in support of EFN and the NACL Stamp Out Hunger national food drive As the mother of a college student and two teenagers, I understand stress and the pressures of balancing home and professional obligations. My past experience in the United States Army, Chair of the South Tacoma Community Oakland Madrona Neighborhood Group, my work with the Tacoma Rescue Mission, and my past and current membership in the Master Builders Association of Pierce County, Life Center of Tacoma and Tacoma Pierce County Association of REALTORS, have given me great insight into relational dynamics and the importance of answering the call of civic duty. My objective as your Lender Rep for 2014, is to help create a positive influence in our community for the lending industry as a whole by pursuing ongoing opportunities for our group to give back to the community as well as serve our local REALTORS. Lending Representative 4 candidates (continued) Barbara Mooers, Jennifer Edwards, Stephanie Grassi, Venetia Killian Stephanie Grassi Stephanie, began her banking and real estate finance career in 2004, shortly after graduating with a B.S at Evergreen State College. With 8 years of Mortgage experience, Stephanie is passionate about this industry and meeting the needs of her clients/business partners. Stephanie specializes in advising consumers on loan programs and educating them about current market conditions and the purchase/refinance process. Stephanie is dedicated to creating a strong and trustworthy relationship with her client and business partners through constant and clear communication both during and after the transaction. She is an expert in designing mortgage solutions that fit the customer s goals and strives to fit the needs of each individual buyer. She also uses creative marketing strategies which help realtors and builders increase their market share and strengthen the connection with their clientele inevitably increasing referrals. Stephanie is also passionate about being politically active in TPCAR/NAR government affairs. She understands that the policies put in place for small businesses, lending, and real estate directly impact the ability to do business and serve our clients in our local communities. Stephanie has been very active with TPCAR & it s Affiliates and is looking forward to expanding her time and dedication into the elected council arena. She and her son Brendan are active volunteers within Bellarmine and the local community. Stephanie looks forward to being more active with the Affiliates and REALTOR s and adding value to TPCAR this coming year! Venetia Killian Venetia has been serving Western Washington as a mortgage lender since 1978 producing loans as well as being the Federal Way branch manager for Evergreen for the last five years. During her career Venetia has enjoyed the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of borrowers by assisting them in navigating the mortgage process and realizing the dream of homeownership. Evergreen believes in changing lives one Loan at a time and Venetia agrees with that philosophy. She personally strives to deliver the Nordstrom s level of customer service to her borrowers and REALTOR partners while educating them on product options and mortgage knowledge. Venetia joined TPCAR three years ago and values the goals and direction of the Association, as well as the great partnership between the Affiliates. We are a team here to support the amazing REALTOR members of TPCAR. Venetia was born and raised in Lakewood but ended up settling in the Sumner area where she raised her two daughters who are now 24 and 26 both graduates of the University of Washington and the light of her life! Venetia is looking forward to another successful year in 2014 as a member of TPCAR! 4
At-Large Representative (not lending, title or escrow) 2 candidates Marie Pettie, Ruth Winbauer Marie Pettie Marie Pettie s experience is well rounded as a REALTOR and a career property manager. She started her career with Magnuson Management, LLC a Wall Street traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) that managed over 2000 doors. Marie has been an On-Site apartment manager and an executive property manager managing over 1000 units in the multi-family industry. Her experience includes being an Assistant Asset Manager for Center Point Corporate Park in Kent. Centerpoint is a 735,000 square foot, class A commercial campus with mid-rise 7 story buildings, amenities and a restaurant. She now is the Designated Broker for Safe Harbor Property Management, LLC, and brings her 20 years of management experience to the single family home arena. Ruth Winbauer Ruth is responsible for directing and implementing all aspects of marketing for Newland Communities in the Puget Sound. She provides leadership to the community and builder partner sales teams, and consultants. Ruth strives to ensure that a strong vision and differentiated community brand are executed across all customer touch points. While managing the strategic outreach and traffic building efforts, she works closely with homebuilders and real estate professionals involved with the community. Prior to joining Newland, Ruth was the Community Relations and Marketing Director with Port Blakely Communities. Her extensive background included marketing Issaquah Highlands, an award-winning, master-planned community where she directed the unified marketing campaigns of up to 20 homebuilding companies concurrently. Ruth received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from the University of North Dakota. She has served on numerous Boards of Directors and has been the Vice President of both the Issaquah and Bonney Lake Chambers of Commerce. 5
Title & Escrow Representative Penny Taylor Green Penny Taylor Green I am very honored to have to been nominated to be a candidate for 2014 TPCAR Affiliate Council for the Title & Escrow position. I began my career as a Real Estate Agent in 2000 with Coldwell Banker Hawkins Poe, then Bain. I enjoyed 13 years there, serving my clients, participating in the real estate community, forming lasting relationships, gaining knowledge, and networking with my peers. I was able to grow and maintain successful referral business that was both fulfilling and solid. Helping others achieve their real estate goals is always my motivation, while understanding that no two transactions are alike, and all require applying our highest standards. in 2012, I began working in Title and Escrow and have found it to be as rewarding as my career in selling Real Estate. Now, as an Account Manager for WFG National Title, I am fulfilling a passion to deliver excellent service to my peers. My goal is to be knowledgeable with current industry information, as we are ever changing. As a Washington State Certified Instructor, I look for new, innovative ideas that we can all use and apply. Having the utmost respect for our industry, and what "we" do together, my purpose is to exceed the expectations of service, knowledge and communication. I am a North Tacoma native, and one of three generations in my family to graduate from Stadium High School. I enjoy being involved with Tiger Alumni/ Booster events and organizing class reunions. In my spare time, you will find me gathering with family and friends, going for longs walks in our beautiful community, and spoiling my animals. I am looking forward to a productive 2014, and will be watching for ways to bring positive results to us all. 6
