Day 6: Synergize Name: Card Games: Synergize by playing at least 3 of the games below using either a deck of cards or using the number cards in the handout. * Addition War You will need a partner for this game. Use a deck of cards/or number cards to recite answers to addition facts. Divide the deck into two equal sets. Each person will flip over a card at the same time. Whoever adds the numbers first keeps both cards. The student who ends up with the most cards is the winner. In case of a tie the person who gets the next fact correct gets to keep both cards. A s =1 J s=11 Q s=12 K s=13 *Subtraction War You will need a partner for this game. Use a deck of cards/or number cards to recite answers to subtraction facts. Divide the deck into two equal sets. Each person will flip over a card at the same time. Whoever subtracts the numbers first keeps both cards. The student who ends up with the most cards is the winner. In case of a tie the person who gets the next fact correct gets to keep both cards. A s =1 J s=11 Q s=12 K s=13 *Multiplication War You will need a partner for this game. Use a deck of cards to recite products to multiplication facts on 3 s, 4 s, 5 s, 6 s, 7 s or 8 s. Put the whole deck in the middle. Decide on the fact you want to recite. Example 7 s, then as you turn over one card at a time, you will multiply it only by sevens. Whoever recites the fact 1 st is the winner. The student who ends up with the most cards is the winner. In case of a tie the person who gets the next fact correct gets to keep the next card. A s =1 J s=11 Q s=12 K s=13 *Slap Jack You will need a partner for this game. Use a deck of cards/ or the number cards to play this game. The game is like slap jack but you can only slap Prime numbers. Prime numbers are numbers that only have 2 factors one and itself. Example: 2,3,5,7,11,13,17 and etc. Divide the deck up into two equal sections. Each person will take turns flipping a card over. If it is prime the first person that slaps it keeps the card. If it is composite then do not slap it. If someone slaps a composite number then the other person gets the card. The student who ends up with the most cards is the winner. In case of a tie the person who gets the next answer correct gets to keep both cards. A s =1 J s=11 Q s=12 K s=13

Log into Lexia and work for 30 minutes. http://www.lexiacore5.com/ OR You can use the following website as reference: Study Island www.mbgnet.net/bioplants/parts.html (earn at least 2 blue ribbons) OR Accelerated Math (complete a practice or a test) 34 35 36 Synergize Complete the Habit Six: Synergize sheet to describe and give examples of synergize. Then you will draw a picture of yourself synergizing and a paragraph/story about your picture. Day 6: Synergize Symmetry 1. Explore your house for symmetrical designs. See how many you can find. Look at wallpaper, floor tiles, pictures, bedspreads, and appliances ect. Make a list. 2. Cut out a picture in a magazine, newspaper, etc. that is symmetrical. Cut it along the line of symmetry. Paste one half of the picture on the paper. Draw the missing half. 3. Write your name in big block letters, then write your friends name. Answer the questions on the worksheet about your names. Please place your child s name, grade, and activity number on each piece of work they complete and turn in. Card Games: Synergize by playing at least 3 of the games below using either a deck of cards or using the number cards in the handout.
