Fabric Selection Choose six fat quarters each from Light to Medium and Dark. Pair contrasting fabrics, mixing scales and values. Six Backgrounds Die Selection Cut patches using the Go! Big or Go!. Stacking for Smart Cutting Cut patches using the Go! Big or Go! 1. Select one pair of contrasting fat quarters. 2. Place light fat quarter right side up on cutting mat with selvage on left. Layer dark fat quarter on top, lining up selvages. 3. Fold into a 9 width. 4. Trim remaining fabric on right and set aside for Binding. 4
5. Set up die. 6. Place layered fabric on die. Line up raw edges of fabric parallel with blades on die. 5
7. Put mat on top of die. Cut shapes. 8. Slide off mat. 9. Remove excess fabric around shapes. 6
Sewing Shapes Together with No Pin Method 1. Set up machine with single hole throat Plate and Z\v" foot. Sew with Z\v" seam 2. Lay out sets of blocks. 3. Take one set. 4. Flip Quarter Circle right sides together to block with Quarter Circle on top. 5. Anchor two pieces with ½" of stitching. Stop with needle in fabric. 7
6. Pull both pieces in straight line and sew ¼ of the way. Stop with needle down. 7. Finger pin notches, and sew to notches. Stop with needle down. 8. Sew ¾ of way and stop. 9. Line up ends together and hold with stiletto. Sew off end. Sew all forty-eight patches. 10. Press seams toward dark. 8
Sewing Blocks Together 1. Lay out block. 2. Flip right vertical row to left vertical row, right sides together. 3. Assembly-line sew, matching seams. 4. Open. Turn. 5. Flip remaining rows right sides together, locking seams. In center, push top seam up and underneath seam down. 9
6. Clip threads. 7. Remove four stitches in seam allowance. 8. Swirl seams around center. Press seams clockwise. 10
Sewing Top Together 1. Lay out blocks in rows three across and four down. 2. Sew vertical rows together. 3. Sew remaining rows together. 4. Layer and quilt. 5. For Binding, cut 3" strips from left over fat quarters, or use yardage for Binding. 11
