Newsletter 15 May 2016 Wow, is it May already?? Where is the year going? I love Autumn. It s my favourite time of year. It is only now though that the trees are starting to change. It has been an unseasonably warm few months. I wonder if that means when the cooler weather does arrive it will arrive with a vengeance or if we are in for a mild Winter? The chilly months always make me want to stitch, so bring it on. Ok, some big news we have. Our Patchwork shop, The Stitching Post is currently for sale. We are hoping someone will take over from us as it would be a shame to have to close The Stitching Post down. As we are getting out of the patchwork side of our business, we are now only concentrating on Needlework. So expects to see more and more needlework related items in the What s New section of the website. Price Reductions on Mill Hill Beads and Kreinik Effective from today, we have dramatically reduced the prices of all of our Mill Hill Beads and Krienik threads. Here are some examples: Mill Hill Antique and Petite Beads, were $3.85, now $2.50 Mill Hill Magnifica Beads were $11.00, now $8.05 Mill Hill Treasures reduced by between 30% and 50% Kreinik Blending Filament, was $, now $3.00 Kreinik #4 Braid, was $6.95, now $5.20 Kreinik #8 Braid, was $7.50, now $5.90 Kreinik #16 Braid, was $8.00, now $7.65 We hope to also be able to reduce the prices of Caron Threads and Rainbow Gallery threads in the near future. Page 2 Mirabilia The Mirabilia Retreat that we are running in May 2017 is now full. We are bringing Nora Corbett out so all the ladies coming are beyond excited. We have started a Wait List and already have a number of ladies on the list. We often read that stitchers are looking for a one stop shop for their Mirabilia supplies and we aim to be that shop. Not just for Mirabilia but for all the designers we sell. Over this next year we will be getting our stock levels back up and that includes all patterns, beads, threads, accessory packs and fabric for all of the Mirabilia Designs and Nora Corbett charts. As we will be doing very large orders, we will now only be ordering once a month, so if there is something you are after, please let us know before 15th of each month. Hand Dyed Fabrics Many of you have tried and loved our own hand antiqued linens. Bren has been branching out and is currently busy dying some beautiful new colourful hand dyes. Fabulous to use with Mirabilia and fantasy designs. He will be releasing them soon under our Under The Hedgerow label. More on this when they are ready to be launched!!! Nora Corbett Wherefore Art Though 3 Part Mystery Nora Corbett has designed this Mystery design for Casa Cenina called "Wherefore Art Thou?", which is what Juliet said to her beloved Romeo from her balcony - it is released in three parts. There is a custom handmade Casa Cenina Fuseruola bead and Mill Hill embellishment pack available. It is coded for Classic Colorworks, Sampler Threads, and Weeks Dye Works with DMC alternates.

Page 3 This design is to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare's death and Nora Corbett will be in Verona, Italy with Casa Cenina to meet stitchers in the courtyard of the famous Shakespearean balcony. Patterns are $31.00 per month plus postage, or you can get all of the patterns at once. Bead Pack is available for $39.50 Casa Cenina Embellishment Pack containing Fuseruola Bead is available for $22.00 I have a pic of the finished design. Email me if you would like to see a picture. Along with heaps of new Mirabilia and Nora Corbett charts, here are some of our other new arrivals: Hands Across The Sea We are 1 of only 6 shops in the world selected to carry these beautiful designs and the latest arrival is the stunning Hannah Coates 1848

Page 7 Lizzie Kate Mystery Deadline for orders will be Friday 20 th May. Get your orders in now so you don t miss out!! Ready for another Lizzie Kate Mystery Sampler? We're ready, too! It's time to get "SPOOKED!" The design will be revealed in 3 monthly parts. Mystery orders will ship to us on June 15, July 15, and August 15 so they will be ready to ship to you about 10 days later. Each part will contain a BONUS project...that's 3 BONUS designs! The model of "SPOOKED!" was stitched on 32 ct. Ale linen from Picture This Plus. We will be offering pre-cut fabric in 4 choices...28 and 32 ct. Ale linen, and 14 and 16 ct. Ale Aida. Everyone is invited to get SPOOKED!, whichever fabric you prefer. As always, the PTP precuts will be serged, individually packaged and labeled for your convenience. Stitch Count for "SPOOKED" is 227W x 97H. Not coincidentally, this is the same stitch count for LK s previous Holly and Hearts Christmas Mystery Sampler. If you like to switch seasonal frames, this is an option. Bonus project stitch counts are: o Bewitched 2 sided fob/pin pillow - 26W x 29H on each side o Winnie Witch Standup - 43W x 79H - We've had lots of requests for another standup design...you can stand Winnie up or flatten her! o For the Birds - 121W x 29H - this is a BIG BONUS We will have a thread pack, including an exclusive new colour from Weeks Dye Works. Lizzie Kate are working with Miranda and her whiz colour team to create a new colour especially for SPOOKED! Thread pack includes 13 skeins of Weeks Dye Works, including the new "mystery" colour.

Page 8 There will be a fantastic embellishment pack that includes goodies for "SPOOKED!" and all 3 BONUS projects. The Pack includes 5 JABC buttons, lots of tiny black and cream buttons, triangle "beak" button, and olive/gold beads. Lots of extra fun! Pricing: Charts - $15.50 per month Embellishment Pack - $28.50 (sent with first month) 28 or 32ct Hand dyed linen - $28.00 (sent with first month) 14 or 16ct Hand dyed aida - $21.50 (sent with first month) Weeks Dye Works Thread Pack - $54.00 (sent with first month) Country Cottage Needleworks - Gingerbread Village Series Country Cottage Needleworks are running their Gingerbread Village. This new series consists of 11 designs that will be released consecutively for 1 1 m o n t h s. T h e f i r s t d e s i g n, Gingerbread Train, is larger than the rest (stitch count of 110w x 60h). The remaining 10 designs are all the same size (stitch count 55w x 60h). If the entire design is stitched together it has a total stitch count of 220w x 184h. The fabric used for the models is Wichelt s 32 count Lambswool Linen. The designs also use the same threads throughout. If all of the designs are stitched, a total of these many skeins of floss will be needed: Classic Colorworks Bean Sprout (2) and Ribbon Red (2). Weeks Hazelnut (3) and Pecan (5). DMC White (4), 3371 (1), 469 (1), and 741 (1). This programme is 6 designs in but you can still join at any time. There is a JABCO button used in each design. We will be including this button with each chart. Using the button though is completely optional, and so it is not included with the pattern. Keep in mind that the buttons were chosen to fit with the 32 count fabric, so if you choose a different fabric count they may not fit the design as well.

Page 9 The Gingerbread Village series will look adorable finished separately as cubes, stand up flat folds, ornaments, etc. If you choose to stitch the entire series together as shown, the first design in the center will be Gingerbread Train. Then we will be moving a block over to the left for the next piece, and then continuing clockwise around the entire piece. The blocks that are next to each other horizontally are stitched right next to each other with no spaces in between. There are two stitches however, in between the rows vertically. We will be including the button with each chart. If you signup for the whole programme and also want the fabric and threads, they will be sent with month one. So sign up now and get ready to start stitching!!! Blackbird Designs The next is the Garden Club series from Blackbird Designs The First 6 months are in now. "Welcome to the Blackbird Designs Garden Club! You re going to love belonging to our little sewing circle. There are no offices to fill, and no elections to hold. So you will be able to sit back, stitch and enjoy yourself" "Over the next 12 months, the Blackbird Designs Garden Club series will reflect a cherished aspect of gardening. It might be a lovely basket of flowers, bees buzzing from flower to flower, or, like this month, an abundant harvest of cherries. In any case, you won t have to worry about getting your hands dirty!" One pattern will be released each month for a year. All 12 pieces are stitched on 32ct. linen and each pattern can use a different colour of linen. Each piece in the series is a 25cm square (including a framing allowance) Alternatively the entire collection can be stitched on one piece of linen. The ½ Metre piece of linen would be $55 and sent with the first chart or the individual linen pieces would be $12.00 each month. The Gentle Art

Page 10 thread pack for Basket Of Cherries would be $40 or the DMC alternative would be $14.50. If you sign up for the monthly thread pack, the cost of the threads each month will vary depending on the design. Magazines The next Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine will be here any day now. It s bigger and better than ever. We also have back issues of Fall 2015 and Christmas 2015 in stock. Upcoming Shows If you are in Sydney in June we will have a stand at The Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair Wed 22nd Sun 26th June. This year we will only have needlework so there will be loads to tempt you on our stand. Don t forget to look for us on our Linen and Thread Facebook page along with our Aussie Mirabilia Stitchers Group Well, that s about all for now.
