CUSTOM INTEGRATED ASSEMBLIES Cougar offers full first-level integration capabilities, providing not just performance components but also full subsystem solutions to help reduce program schedule and cost. Drawing on our expanding breadth of components, Cougar delivers customer-specified subsystems of analog and mixed analog-digital design, including hybrid, MMIC, and mixed hybrid-mmic configurations. Designed to meet military or space applications, some typical subsystems Cougar delivers include I/Q demodulators, coupled detector assemblies, switched amplifier detector assemblies, and dual-band VCOs. Our experienced component and subsystem engineering staffs work closely with the customer s design team. We can help identify and develop the correct integrated subassembly to complete the system requirements and reduce component interface difficulties. Following are several examples of our integrated subassemblies. Each independent channel used dedicated RF Input/Output and DC bias connections. Cougar tailored each channel s RF performance differently to meet the application requirements. Cougar manufactured and screened all components per MIL-PRF-38534, Class K. Additionally, to meet mission requirements Cougar tested the top assembly for RF and DC parameters during MIL-STD-202 thermal cycling and random vibration environments. This effort required disciplined development, manufacturing and program management efforts to meet challenging mechanical and RF engineering requirements. VHF Band 1.0 Watt Amplifier with RF Bypass Cougar has developed a 35 to 350 MHz custom amplifier with 1 watt output power. The amplifier has 29 db gain with 3 db noise figure. 3072 MHz Limiting Amplifier The CCM3072 is single input three output limiting amplifier operating at 3072 MHz. The input power range is from -10 to 0 dbm with an output at +7 dbm and two at +1 dbm. The output power change due input power range, temperature (-20 to 85 C) and voltage variation is ~ +/-0.8 db. Input and output VSWR are all <1.2:1. Incorporated into the design is a narrow band pass filter between the amplifiers and power splitter to reject spurious input signals and reduce harmonic outputs. This limiting amplifier is being built for stringent space applications. 2 to 18 GHz Amplitude and Phase Matched 6 Channel Downconverter The CCM18001 is a six (6) channel 2 to 18 GHz (RF and LO) Downconverter that operates at an IF frequency of ~960 MHz with 25 db of RF to IF gain and bandwidth of ~500 MHz. The CCM18001 operates off a single LO input at -6 dbm input power. To provide the LO drive to the mixers, the LO signal is conditioned by being amplified, power split and then individually amplified again for each of the six channels. The six channels are identical in their function. Integrated into each of the six channels is a range extension switch that adds 20 db of range by inserting 20 db of attenuation. The six 2.0 to 18.0 GHz switches are controlled by a single TTL input. IF chain has amplification, phase adjustment, temperature compensation and a lumped element Band Pass Filter (with equalizer). Noise figure is ~13.5 db with the output IP3 of ~25 dbm. Channel to amplitude match is ~1.0 db and the channel to channel phase match is <20. The downconverter is two sided hermetically sealed hybrid designed for rugged military applications. All of the component parts are designed and manufactured by Teledyne Cougar. 17 to 19 GHz QPSK Modulator The CCM19001 is a Differential Drive Digital QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulator operating across the 17.0 to 19.0 GHz frequency range. The modulator utilizes differential drive digital inputs (180º apart) to drive both of the bi-phase modulators (mixers) integrated into the assembly. The modulator is a combination of a matched pair bi-phase modulators, which are in quadrature (90º) to each other. It is modulated by switching polarities of the DC voltage controls in 4 different logic states ( 0,0, 0,1, 1,0 & 1,1 ) for 4 phase states. The QPSK modulator provides constant amplitude, 90º vector: 0 (ref.), 90º, 180º, 270º and operates across the -55º to 85º C temperature range. 22 408-522-3838 Fax: 408-522-3839 Check for updates: www.teledyne-cougar.com 2006/2007
