Julie s designs capture the aesthetic of the age when women s clothes became less corseted and more flowing, without losing an ounce of femininity an age when women s fashions had to reflect their changing lives. & Knits Breathe Knits the Breathe is a collection of lighter weight knits that can be worn in warm weather on their own or in cooler weather as layering pieces. We have come to think of them as vest alternatives, perfect for the changeable days of spring and fall. Debbie and Paula having been wearing their own pieces from this book on a regular basis because they work so well for us. We hope you ll feel the same. 1
Classes Crochet Hankie BJ s original hankie edging designs are perfect for intermediate level crocheters looking for a challenge. You ll work with a size 1.00 mm hook and size 20 cordonet cotton thread to embellish the edge of a cotton hankie blank. This November, BJ will guide you through the Irish Crown Edging Handkerchief. 1 to 4 pm November 22 Teacher: BJ Christmas Balls to Knit We dare you to resist smiling while you peek into 55 Christmas Ball to Knit. The authors, Arne and Carlos, celebrate their rich Nordic knitting history and add their own sense of whimsey to these sweet little projects. This is a great way to learn and practice color stranded knitting. You ll get to experience the magic of blocking. Wool stitches transform with the proper application of water, steam, and heat, making even your novice efforts at color work look beautiful. 2 balls of yarn will make about 6 Christmas balls. Wool stuffing will be included in your class fee. Did you knit some Christmas Balls with us last year? Veteran Christmas Ball knitters are invited to join us to knit a few more. Crochet Scrubbie Spend a afternoon transforming a ball of hemp yarn into a bit of bath time luxury. The scrubbie is a perfect small gift for a friend or yourself. BJ s clever scrubbie design has no finishing other than working in the beginning and ending tails. You ll be crocheting a shape known to mathematicians as a fractal. 1 to 4 pm Dec 6 Teacher: BJ Julenisse The Julenisse is a traditional Danish Christmas folklore character. Heidi s Julenisse has his hands in his pockets and an impish look on his face. He looks like he s planning a pleasant bit of mischief. He s very easy to knit. Savvy knitters will notice that his head is a sock toe and his clothes are created by simple color changes. A bit of embroidery creates the illusion of pants and sleeves. You'll learn to use circular and double pointed needles while making the hat. The hat will also be your introduction to multi gauge patterns, which allow you to make the same design in many different kinds of yarn. The scarf combines the cables and other stitches you learned in Knitting for Beginners so that you can keep learning to read your stitches and have something beautiful to wear.
