Edition 02/2010 Ki-Lines Well, one down, twenty three to go! Before I launch into writing this report, I would firstly like to congratulate Lion David Robson on the presentation made to him by now PDG Paul Helming. David, who was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship a number of years ago was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship Progressive. As we all know, Dave lives & breathes Lions, & has been a great fountain of knowledge for Past Presidents, & most certainly this President. Dave also throws himself into the vast majority of our service work. Once again, congratulations Dave, you certainly deserve it, I applaud you. Our visit to The Aviator Restaurant & HARS last dinner meeting seems to have been a great success. I was extremely worried at 6.00pm on the night as an absolute downpour hit the coast. I had visions of wet cold Lions, resulting in an epidemic of Big Cat Flu. We Lioned the Driver Reviver last weekend. Thanks to those Lions who faced the cold wet weather to provide a great service to the travelling public. I heard a tale of a Lion s better half who got a little lost in finding the caravan, & spent most of the afternoon driving around in circles. All jokes aside Barb, we appreciate your help!!! Unfortunately the Kiama Markets were called off for today, apparently because of a fracas over a DA between Council & the Chamber of Commerce. A real shame, as I look out the window today, it is a beautiful winters sunny day. The Markets would have been packed & we would have made motza. Over the week I have sent emails to Lions regarding a visit to Blue Haven before our Thursday night meeting at the Sebel. As most would know Lion Owen Patton has put in his resignation from our Club, to look after his wife Clare. Owen was an extremely respected Lion in our Club and we felt that a fitting send off would be appropriate. We invited Owey & Clare to our

Changeover, but unfortunately, they couldn t attend. So we are taking the Mountain to Mohammad. We are able to take 30 Lions for a 5.45pm gathering in the Sky View Room for a send off. At present the Lions attending are: myself, Rob D, David J, Jerry G-H, Noel, Tony G, David R, Grayo, John U, Ray R, Harvey, Terry H, Russ, Bill C-M, Jon P, Aub, Ray H, Gerry Mc, Geoff D, John H, Richard H, Rick B, Bruce L & Michael M. That is 24 spaces taken, only 6 spaces available, first in best dressed. Please contact me if you wish to attend. This Dinner Meeting is at the Sebel, & is a closed meeting, Lions only. Lion Cynthia Phillips will be attending at my invitation, as she will be transferring from the Elermore Vale Lions where she was their President & Zone Chairman. I will be attempting this year to get us home at a reasonable time after meetings & am aiming to actually finish meetings at close to 9.00pm. With this in mind I ll be sounding the gong at 6.50pm & ask that all be seated by 7.00pm, as that is when the meeting will start. Hopefully we can finish this closed meeting early so that we can retire to the bar & enjoy each others company. See you there. President Peter Don t end up in the DOGHOUSE. If you cannot attend this Dinner Meeting, please call to apologise on 0449 523 040 NO EXCUSES FOR NO APOLOGY. - $10.00 Levy is applied for no Apology APPARENTLY NIL MARRIAGES IN THIS FORTNIGHT Clare Patton Marilyn Heinecke Robyn Lanham Barry Krone David McLeod Beverley Stewart Bruce Lanham David Kirkman Jack Stoertz Rick Norris Faye Redgrave

From the most-recent IPP: Changeover: A belated thanks again to all who helped put the Changeover together and make it an enjoyable evening for a Changeover! Now that youth and exuberance has pushed out the old and decrepit, the club will continue to move on to greater things. Go Pete! An apology to some who may feel left out re the printed programme. We suffered an odd mishap in the final flurry at the printers when some things were being moved around to make them fit. A couple of projects got cut, but not pasted, those being the Children s Audio project and the Tuesday Friendship Group. Somewhere along the way I also lost the Clean-up Australia project and should also add on the CWA Hall grounds to the park care and maintenance, and the monthly assistance given to the Vision-impaired group. Pencil them in if you want to keep a complete record. For the benefit of those who couldn t make the Changeover, I have some spare programmes which contain various reports on the year s activities. Let me know if you would like one. (Also have a few left over from the 40 th Charter Dinner in March if interested!) Russell.
