When a cutting surface is worn, just flip or rotate the interchangeable insert each one has four cutting edges.

The balanced cutting action is achieved by positioning the inserts in the pockets to allow the outer edges of the inserts to operate under similar cutting forces. 6 Drill/Offset and Bore The HID drill can be used in both lathes and machining centers. Lathes In a turning application, the HID drill can be used to plunge directly into the face of a part; once the hole is drilled, it can then be offset and bored to a larger diameter. When used on the outside diameter, it can turn a shoulder or bring a part to final size all the way around. Machining Centers The HID delivers through and blind holes with coolant at production capacity, with increased tool body life. The offset can be used to gain additional inside diameter or even used to turn the outside diameter of a part to a smaller diameter.
