2 Important Information Brazed connections should NOT be made directly onto the mixer, as excessive heat will cause permanent damage. All pipework must be thoroughly flushed prior to installation. Special Requirements Front face of mounting plate (1) must be flush with back face of wall lining to ensure that Mixer is installed square to wall surface & that wall lining is supported when locknut (6) is tightened. IMPORTANT Pressure & Temperature Requirements Hot and cold water inlet pressures should be equal. Static inlet pressure range: kPa New Regulation:- 500kPa maximum static pressure at any outlet within a building. (Ref. AS/NZS , Clause 3.3.4) Maximum hot water temperature: 80 C. Wall Requirements Cavity Depth: 60mm minimum (behind wall lining) Penetration hole (in wall lining): Ø50-54mm Installation Requirements The installing plumber is responsible for waterproofing all penetrations for Taps in Shower areas at installation by a proprietary flange system or a sealant. (Ref AS , Clause 3.10) PAGE 2 OF 12

3 1 200mm Noggins (not supplied) Hot Water Inlet Mixed Water Outlet Cold Water Inlet 2 7 5mm 1 Fit mixer sub-assembly (1) onto suitably prepared noggins (not supplied) and secure using the four chipboard screws (2) (supplied) through the matching holes of the mounting plate (1) as shown. Important: When installed into the wall cavity, the front face of the mounting plate (1) must contact the back face of the wall lining. Timber noggins must be notched to an accurate depth of 5.0mm to ensure that the front face of the mounting plate is flush with the front face of the noggins and wall framing. When facing the mixer, the connections should be as follows: Hot water inlet connection H to the left. Cold water inlet connection C to the right. Mixed water outlet connection, vertically upwards. Check all connections for leaks. Important: The notched recess in the noggins must be 5.0mm deep to accomodate the mounting plate (1) and ensure the wall covering is fully supported. Mixer sub-assembly (1) must be installed square to wall/tile face. The protection cover (7) must not be removed until completing the installation. Do not discard as this cover is also used as an assembly tool. PAGE 3 OF 12

4 4 6 Wall Thickness Limits Ø50-54mm mm wall/tile face 2 Regardless of the type of wall covering chosen, be it fibre cement/tile, stone, glass, or other, the combined total thickness of all wall coverings, measured from the face of the mounting plate (1) to the wall/tile face, must be within the range of 14-24mm as shown. Important: The mixer will not function if the total thickness of the wall covering is outside the range of 14-24mm. To indicate correct wall thickness, the finished wall surface must lie between the wall thickness limits on the protection cover (7). The diameter of the hole penetration through the wall covering must be within the range of Ø50-54mm and the hole must be concentric to the protection cover (7). PAGE 4 OF 12

5 3 4 Threaded hole positioned at the top When the wall covering has been completed, the installation of the mixer can continue. Start by unscrewing the protection cover (7). DO NOT DISCARD. Check that handle adaptor (4) is seated on cartridge stem then tighten grub screw (8) using 2.5mm allen key (9). Hold the fixing ring (5) so that one of the threaded holes is at the top, as shown, then apply a suitable sealant to the back edge (with large recess) of the fixing ring (5), leaving an unsealed section at the bottom for drainage. Pass locknut (6) through fixing ring (5) as shown then screw the locknut onto the thread of the mixer body (3), ensuring the threaded hole in the fixing ring remains at the top and the unsealed section at the bottom, then tighten the locknut (6) using the protection cover (7) as a tightening tool. Wipe clean any excess sealant from the wall/ tile face and the chrome surface of the fixing ring (5). PAGE 5 OF 12

6 Opening Slide the sleeve (10) onto the mixer body (3) then rotate the sleeve so that the opening is at the bottom and the 3 holes are aligned with the threaded holes in the fixing ring (5). Assemble the screws (11) as shown and tighten using the 3mm allen key provided. Carefully slide the thrust washer (12) over sleeve (10), as shown, until it bottoms against the face just above the head of screws (11). Apply a suitable lubrication grease to the thrust washer (12). From plastic bag fit small O Ring (13) over screw (8) (a smear of grease applied to the O Ring will keep it in place while the installation continues). PAGE 6 OF 12

7 Cutouts 5 Ensure the fixed shield (15) is bonded in position inside the outer cover (14) as shown. Slide the outer cover (14) carefully over the sleeve (10) until it bottoms on the thrust washer (12). Apply suitable lubrication grease to the external surface of the guide ring (16) then slide it over the sleeve (10). Push the guide ring (16) inside the outer cover (14) until it bottoms. (at this point the outer cover should be resting close to the wall surface and the front face of the guide ring should be positioned just below the cutouts in the sleeve (10). PAGE 7 OF 12

8 Screw hole Rotate the outer cover (14) so that the slot is underneath & the grub screw (8) in the handle adaptor (4) (see step 4) is visible in the centre of the slot (a mirror may be helpful to view the screw (8) from underneath). Ensure that the small O Ring (13) (see step 4) is in position on the screw (8), then assemble the handle (17) onto the screw (8) and tighten to compress the O Ring (13) and prevent the handle (17) from loosening. Apply a smear of suitable lubrication grease to the O ring (18) then place the O Ring into the recess between the outer cover (14) and guide ring (16) (see step 5). While holding dress cap (19) with the screw (20) pointing to the side, engage the dress cap with the sleeve (10) then rotate the dress cap so that the screw (20) is underneath & the coloured indicator dots are on top. Using a 2mm allen key, screw in screw (20) ensuring the plain diameter on the front of the screw engages with the screw hole in the sleeve (10), and tighten. PAGE 8 OF 12

10 CARTRIDGE Adjustable Features See details on page 11 Anti-Scald & Volume Limit Screw Replacing Cartridge Turn off hot and cold water supplies. Following the reverse of Mixer Installation Steps 4 through 6 will allow access to the mixer body (3). All care should be taken not to damage any of the components during removal. Remove handle adaptor (4). Unscrew nut (22) then lift out old cartridge (21). Ensure inside face of mixer body (3) is clean. Check that seal is in position in base of new cartridge (21). Fit new cartridge (21) into mixer body (3), taking care that two lugs on base of cartridge (21) fit into mating holes in mixer body (3). Screw on nut (22). Important: Nut (22) should be tightened to a torque of 10Nm. Replace handle adaptor (4) ensuring it is pushed fully down onto cartridge (21). Follow Mixer Installation Steps 4 through 6 to reassemble the mixer. Turn on hot and cold water supplies and check operation. PAGE 10 OF 12

11 PLUMBERS ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS Adjusting the HOT LIMIT RING (ANTI-SCALD STOP RING) The cartridge fitted in this mixer has been factory pre-set to deliver the maximum available hot water temperature. To use the ANTI-SCALD feature adjust the cartridge as follows:- Following the reverse of Mixer Installation Steps 4 through 6 will allow access to cartridge (21). All care should be taken not to damage any of the components during removal. Remove handle adaptor (4). To remove the Hot Limit Ring (23) from the cartridge (21), use a small thin flat bladed screwdriver and carefully lever in an upwards direction. Rotate the Ring (23) in an anti-clockwise direction then refit the Ring (23) onto cartridge (21). Note:- Start by rotating the Ring (23) in small increments, then check the hot water temperature with the mixer handle in the fully open maximum hot water position. The Ring (23) can be removed & repositioned until the desired maximum hot water temperature is achieved. Ensure the Ring (23) is pushed fully down onto the cartridge (21), then replace handle adaptor (4). Follow Mixer Installaion Steps 4 through 6 to reassemble the mixer. Adjusting the WATER VOLUME LIMIT SCREW The cartridge fitted in this mixer has been factory pre-set to deliver the maximum flow of water when the mixer handle is in the fully open position. However, the flow of water may be reduced by adjusting the cartridge as follows:- Following the reverse of Mixer Installation Steps 4 through 6 will allow access to cartridge (21). All care should be taken not to damage any of the components during removal. Using a 1.50mm allen key, adjust screw (24) in a clockwise direction. Note:- Start by rotating the Screw (24) in small amounts then check the flow of water with the mixer handle in the fully open position. Readjust the screw until the desired water flow is achieved. Follow Mixer Installaion Steps 4 through 6 to reassemble the mixer. 1.50mm Allen Key PAGE 11 OF 12
