3 1 Overview This document describes the procedure for the installation of the LightMark T1 and LightMark T2 solar powered pavement markers. LightMark T1 Top view Side view LightMark T2 Top view Side view Page 3 of 6
4 2 Installation Environment 2.1 Lighting conditions All LightMark series pavement markers should be installed in an environment which allows at least 3 hours of charge time by direct clear day sun-light or 8 hours of direct soft sun-light (cloudy or rainy conditions) 2.2 Temperature LightMark T1 and LightMark T2 are resistant to extreme weather conditions and can operate under the temperature range of -40ºF to 176ºF. Constant operation outside this temperature range may affect unit lifetime and output. 2.3 Chemicals While well resistant to water and salt, long exposure of the unit to certain chemicals such as acids, solvents and toxic gases can harm the unit body and top cover, therefore, installation of the unit in such environment is not recommended. 3 Required tools and materials Tools Concrete coring drill Jack Hammer 5 (5m) wide Jack Hammer chisel bit Air compressor/pressure washer (for cleaning) LightMark T1/T2 installation o Ф1 3/16 (3cm) Concrete/Asphalt drill bit Material Adhesive Recommended: Polymeric epoxy glue (Polycraft #432) Optional Power Generator Extension cords Lighting equipment Disposable rubber gloves (for handling adhesive) Cleaning tools (brooms and brushes) Page 4 of 6
5 4 Installation Procedure LightMark T1 & LightMark T2 1. For optimal installation results, verify that the designated installation surface is flat. 2. Drill an installation hole to the following dimensions: Inches (Cm) Diameter 1 3/16 (3) Depth 2 5/8 (7) 3. Make sure the installation drill hole and its surrounding are clean of any dust and debris (use of high pressure air compressor) 4. WITHOUT USING ADHESIVE, place a LightMark T1/T2 anchor in the installation drill hole 5. Make sure the unit can be inserted into the drill hole without the use of force and that there is a small gap between the unit body and the installation hole walls. 6. Remove unit from installation drill hole. 7. Making sure area is completely dry, pour / inject adhesive into the drill hole. Page 5 of 6
6 8. Apply adhesive on the underside of the LightMark T1/T2 s lip (the area meant to be in contact with the ground) 9. Place the LightMark T1/T2 anchor into the installation drill hole. Make sure that the unit s lighting panel is facing oncoming traffic direction. 10. Firmly press the unit into drill hole onto the adhesive until the main unit component (covered with adhesive) touches the road surface. 11. Remove any excess adhesive from the installation area. NOTE: If any cleaning and removal of the Polymeric epoxy glue is required, it is recommended to do so during the first hour of the glue s exposure to air and can be done using soap and water. 5 Installation verification 3 hours past installation, verify that the unit is firmly locked in its installation drillhole and is irremovable.
