1 TWO SYSTEMS... ONE END RESULT BIC GARDEN Galvanised Steel Post Supports allow the installation of fence posts in minutes without the need for digging or mixing concrete. Manufactured from heavy gauge galvanised steel for strength and durability, they hold the fence post above ground level, protecting the base of the wooden post against infestation and rot. FIN GRIP The steel fins bite into the wooden post as it is hammered in, holding the post fast. The base spike (see opposite) embeds into the base of the post preventing any lateral movement. Fin Grip is suitable for installing all types of wooden fencing. BOLT GRIP The heavy-duty twin bolt fastening system holds the post as effectivly as the Fin Grip but with the added advantage of allowing easy installation or replacement of timber fence posts. Bolt Grip is suitable for all types of wooden fencing as well as other types of garden structures such as decking, pergolas, car ports and gazebos. Two systems are available in a range of sizes including metric timber sizes. A UNIQUE INTEGRATED SPIKE FOR POST STABILITY Our unique integrated spike system has been designed to address the problem of post wobble - an inherent weakness with all steel post support systems. As the timber fence post is driven into the support box it engages with and embeds itself onto the steel spike rising from the base, thereby preventing any lateral movement of the post within the box. 05

4 POST SUPPORT SPIKES BIC GARDEN Galvanised Steel Post Supports allow the installation of fence posts in minutes. They hold the fence post above ground level, protecting the base of the wooden post against infestation and rot. The tough steel spike, once driven fully into the ground, provides a secure and stable fixing for the fence post. Check position of any underground services before installation. 2. Using a BIC Garden Driving Tool and a sledgehammer start to tap the support spike into the soil. 3. Use a spirit level to make frequent checks for horizontal and vertical alignment during the installation. 4. It is also important to check that the post support spike doesn t twist out of alignment with the fence. Use the driving tool handles to twist the spike back into alignment if this happens 5. Continue to drive the spike into the soil until the box rests just above ground level. BOLT-DOWN POST SUPPORTS Bolt-Down Post Supports are designed for use on any existing hard surface such as concrete or brick. They can also be used on decking to form a secure fixing for balustrades. They are suitable for a wide variety of garden structures including fencing, decking, pergolas and car ports. The design allows for flush fitting against walls or for mounting onto a wall to support a fence. Install using M8 x 100mm anchor bolts. FENCE POST REPAIR SPURS Repair Spurs have been designed as a fix for timber posts that have broken off at ground level due to rot or gale damage. The Repair Spur is available in the following sizes: FGR757G Fin Grip Repair Spur 75 x 75mm FGR100G Fin Grip Repair Spur 100 x 100mm 1. Saw off the top of the broken post so that it is flush with the concrete then position the Repair Spur with its point at one corner of the old post. 2. Use a Driving Tool to drive the repair spur into the ground between the existing post stub and its concrete socket. 3. Drive in fully to provide a firm support for a new post. 02

5 CONCRETE-IN POST SUPPORT The Bic Garden Concrete-In is designed for use where ground conditions do not allow the use of spikes (stoney or with tree roots) or bolt-downs. Used to support a variety of garden structures such as decking, fencing, car ports and pergolas. The Concrete-In is available in the following sizes: FGC757G Fin Grip Concrete-in 75 x 75mm FGC100G Fin Grip Concrete-in 100 x 100mm 1. Embed the Concrete-In within a 450mm block of concrete. Check for vertical and horizontal alignment frequently during the installation process. 2. Once the concrete has set, use a driving tool to install the new post. 450mm 50mm POST SUPPORTS 50mm Post Supports are designed for light-duty or temporary applications such as wire or lightweight fencing, bird tables, flower arches, fruit cages, tree stakes and estate agent s sign boards. 50mm post supports come in spike and bolt-down options. PBS504G Plain Box Post Support 50 x 450mm PBB050G Plain Box Bolt Down 50 x 50mm 1. Spike version - drive into the ground until the box rests just above ground level. 2. Bolt-down version - installation as bolt downs opposite 3. Secure the post in the box with a galvanised nail. POST EXTENDERS Post Extenders are designed to raise the height of existing fence posts by up to 1 metre, enabling the addition of a trellis or extra fencing panel.
