Over these years the name of Weatherbar Sills Limited has become synomonous with quality, lasting performance, and flexibility of product design. Testament to the original designs laid down by the founders of the company the products have changed little in past years, remaining totally effective at preventing draught and water ingress into doors and windows of all types, shapes and sizes. The standard range of draught proofing products coupled with a number of options in seal types and finishes offered by Weatherbar Sills enables architects, specifiers, contractors and distributors to find a solution for almost every situation for both contract and domestic applications. In March 2003 Weatherbar Sills Limited was purchased by Parallel Flooring Accessories Limited and now has a new manufacturing base at the Parallel factory in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. Established in 1996 Parallel s primary operation is in the design production and distribution of accessories for the wood and laminate flooring market. Seen as the UK s market leader in this product type, the company s success is based upon its innovative approach to design, development and in its uncompromising attitude to quality customer service. 3 STANDARD Sill Range The Weatherbar Standard Double Draught proof doorsill is suitable for all normal installations requiring high performance draught and weather exclusion and is available in both inward and outward opening versions. The sills are extruded from the highest grade 6063 T6 hardness aluminium and finished in a number of high quality architectural grade anodised colours to compliment door fixings and finishes. Simple to fit, all sills have two saw to mastic sealing groves on the base to ensure an effective watertight seal between sill and step. For fitting instructions please see page 13. Sills are fitted as standard with two polypropylene fibre strips ensuring effective draught exclusion, Q-lon strips are fitted in the standard-q range. SENIOR Sill Range The Weatherbar Senior Double Draught proof doorsill features all the design performance of the Standard Range but is an all round heavier and taller version. The Senior Range is suitable for use on larger framed doorways and extremely exposed conditions and will provide high performance draught and weather exclusion. Senior Sills are available in both inward and outward opening versions. The sills are extruded from the highest grade 6063 T6 hardness aluminium and finished in a number of high quality architectural grade anodised colours to compliment door fixings and finishes. Having the advantage of no seal on the bottom ramp sill section ensures that the Freeway sill will continue to perform for years to come.

4 FREEWAY Sill Range CRAFTSMAN Sills The Freeway range offers the benefits of an easy access low-level, low intrusion sill, and high-level draught and weather proofing in one simple to use system. The sill and seal carrier are easy to fit in both new and retrofit situations, requiring only a square cut to the door. Having the advantage of no seal on the bottom ramp sill section ensures that the Freeway sill will continue to perform for years to come. The double draught proof seal carrier also acts as a rain deflector that features mastic channels to assist in achieving an impenetrable weather barrier. The Freeway range is available in both single and double ramp versions as shown. All sills are supplied complete with ramp, pile seals and carrier section. Freeway sills are extruded from the highest grade 6063 T6 hardness aluminium and finished in a number of high quality architectural grade anodised colours to compliment door fixings and finishes. Specially designed for use by joiners and doorframe manufacturers and fitted during the assembly and production of doorframes. Craftsman sills are designed to be fitted into the grove where a waterbar would normally be installed, becoming an integral part of the doorframe. A unique feature of craftsman sills is the PVC front sealing flap that allows water to drain from the sill, but prevents draughts and water being blown back. These sills offer excellent weather and draught proofing properties and are suitable for all new build installations and offer protection in extreme conditions. Please note: Craftsman sills are only suitable for fitting prior to door frame assembly or where no water bar has been installed (or removed) but a waterbar groove has been cut into the frame sill. 5 AUTOSEAL Rain Deflector and Draught Excluder Combined Easy to fix, the unique Weatherbar Autoseal offers a fast durable solution to draughts and rain ingress for the bottom of doors. Simple to fit to the outside of the door the Autoseal is spring loaded to rise when the door is opened clearing the floor. When the door is closed the Autoseal hinges down to form a draught proof seal and rain deflection. Ideal for installation where sills cannot be fitted. Autoseal can be fitted to door where the frame has a waterbar installed without the need for removal. Suitable for uneven levels and worn steps. Autoseal is suitable for inward opening doors only EXCEL Rain Deflectors Elegant and effective Excel rain reflectors have been specially designed with a steep acceleration zone to aid effective rain dispersal. Supplied pre-drilled for simple fixing Excel deflectors also have mastic groves to prevent water ingress between the door and deflector. In exposed or extreme conditions we recommend the fitting of a Weatherbar sill in conjunction with our excel rain deflectors. 6 10.00 DRAUGHT PROOF DOOR AND WINDOW SEALS (D.P.D.S.) The Weatherbar draught proof seal range comprises of four carrier finishes and three seal combinations to accommodate all requirements for the fitting of draught proofing around doors and windows. The low intrusion profiles are pre-holed, fast to fit and available in door sets or individual lengths for window fitting. The seal options available are as follows Pile and Fin Seal Type Suitable for all applications hinged or sliding doors, and smooth low resistance rattle free use on casement, sash and hinged windows. Offering superior protection against draughts and fitted with a central barrier fin this seal type will meet the 30-minute cold smoke fire test. EPDM This seal type is suitable for doors and hinged windows as a face approach seal. When fitted to the exterior of an inward opening door or window frame this seal increases effectiveness as wind pressure increases. Curved to prevent the seal being trapped, the seal effectively disperses water from the doorframe and window edges. Q-LON This seal type is suitable for doors and hinged windows as a face approach seal and sliding seal. Q-lon seals are hard wearing and easy the wipe clean will not support Mildew and are resistant to most household chemicals. BRUSH STRIPS Weatherbar offers a wide range of high quality brush strips to accommodate all installations where superior draught exclusion is required. With an option of Hardwood, Plain PVC carriers, plain or ribbed aluminium with a fixed trim out length of 30mm, adjustable carriers with a trim out length of 15, 20 and 25mm and industrial brush strips providing trim out of 65mm. All types can be supplied in a wide range of stock lengths as detailed below. FITTING INSTRUCTIONS Please read all of the relevant fitting instruction before starting FIGURE 1 SILL LENGTH RAIN DEFLECTOR LENGTH DOOR SILL RANGES DOOR JAMB NOTE: It may be necessary depending upon installation to remove the waterbar if fitted prior to fitting of any sill STANDARD S1,S2 AND SENIOR S3,S4 SILLS 1 Measure the doorframe opening and cut the sill to the required length (See fig1). 2 Remove the door. 3 Place the sill into the door frame (drain holes to the outside) and mark the doorjamb either side of the frame where the sill fits against it. Remove the excess wood on the doorjamb to let the sill into the jamb as in fig 2. 4 Apply mastic sealer to the saw tooth groves on the bottom of the sill and onto the left and right sides of the sill where it locates in the jamb. 5 Place the sill into position and push down firmly so that the sill beds on the frame step and into the jamb. Place the wedge shaped fixing pieces into each side of the frame and fix with screws provided with the sill. 6 Wipe off excess mastic from around the sill and jamb. 7 Measure, cut and re-fit the door. PLEASE NOTE: In very exposed conditions the fitting of a rain deflector is recommended to ensure total draught and water exclusion. BRUSH STRIPS 1 Cut the brush strip to the required width for the door 2 Place the brush strip into position on the bottom of the door. Applying only light pressure so that the bristles sit on the flooring surface, screw fix the brush strip into position on the bottom of the door. FIXING WEDGES SCREWED TO FRAME FLOOR LEVEL FIGURE 2 DOOR STEP AUTO SEAL AS POSITION OF OPTIONAL RAIN DEFLECTOR WOOD FROM DOOR JAMB REMOVED TO ALLOW FOR FRONT OF SILL DRAIN HOLE IN SILL TO OUTSIDE 1 Measure and cut the rain deflector and carrier to the required length. 2 Place into position and mark the door. 3 Apply mastic sealer to the back of the deflector and position on the door. 4 Screw fix the deflector to the door with the screws provided, then wipe off and excess sealant. 5 Close the door and push down on the spring-loaded deflector unto the seal is touching the step or floor. Mark position for the nylon roller on the hinge side of the door jamb 6 Open the door and fix the nylon roller into position. Close the door to check operation of the Autoseal, adjust position of roller as necessary. DOOR AND WINDOW SEAL SETS AND INDIVIDUAL LENGTHS 1 Cut the strip to the required length 2 With the door or window closed, place the seal into position with the seal carrier on the frame. 3 Apply light pressure to lightly compress the seal and then pin the carrier into position in the frame. PLEASE NOTE: Windows and doors should always close against the seal to ensure effective draught proofing. WEATHER BAR Page 12 WEATHER BAR Page 13

8 FREEWAY DOUBLE AND SINGLE SILLS COMPLETE WITH CARRIERS/DEFLECTORS 1 Measure the doorframe opening and cut the sill to the required length (See fig 3). 2 Remove the door. 3 Mark 11mm the doorjamb either side of the frame where the sill fits against it. Remove the excess wood on the doorjamb to let the sill into the jamb as in fig 3. 4 Apply mastic sealer to the bottom of the sill and onto the left and right sides of the sill where it locates in the jamb. 5 Slide the sill into position and push down firmly so that the sill beds on the framestep and into the jamb. 6 Fix the sill to the step with the screws provided 7 Wipe off excess mastic from around the sill and jamb. 8 Take the seal carrier/deflector and cut to the same length as the sill. 9 Place the carrier onto the sill and mark the doorjamb ether side. Remove a wedge shape from the doorjamb on either side of the frame to let the carrier in the jamb. 10 With the seal carrier in place measure the distance from the carrier to the top of the frame and allowing for door clearance at the top of the frame, cut the door to length. 11 Fix the carrier to the bottom of the door using mastic and screws. Refit the door RAIN DEFLECTORS STANDARD RD 1 Measure and cut the rain deflector to the required length. (Distance between the door Jambs) 2 Place into position and mark the door. 3 Apply mastic sealer to the sealing groves on the back of the deflector and re position on the door 4 Screw fix the deflector to the door with the screws provided, then wipe off excess sealant. FREEWAY DOUBLE FIGURE 3 FREEWAY SINGLE WOOD FROM DOOR JAMB REMOVED TO ALLOW FOR FRONT OF SILL SEAL CARRIER / RAIN DEFLECTOR FLOOR/SLAB EXCLUDER FOAM AND BRUSH PILE SELF ADHESIVE SEAL Excluder Foam and Brush pile Self Adhesive Seal should be fitted to the frame of the window or door so that the window or door closes to it compressing the foam. 1 Clean any dust or dirt from the surface to which the foam is to be applied, ensuring it is dry before applying the foam. 2 Peel off a short length of the tape backing from the foam and working around the frame press the foam into position peeling of the back as you progress. Cut into corners with a sharp blade. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING OF WEATHERBAR SILLS AND RAIN DEFLECTORS Correctly fitted Weatherbar products require no maintenance. Should the visible surfaces become soiled they may be cleaned using a light soapless detergent in warm water.
