2 Built For RELIABILITY Solid Platform Construction Toyoda machining centers are engineered to minimize displacement caused by external forces that may impact cutting accuracy. The FH450J is built to withstand large cutting resistance and inertial forces of feed acceleration and deceleration. Its incomparable platform assures machining stability over time. High-Grade Cast Iron Bed The FH450J features a solid, Meehanite casting bed. Analyzed for rigidity with FEM technology, the bed provides stable axial feed during high acceleration rates. FCD450 Column Constructed from FCD450 iron, the FH450J s column offers superior strength and ductility over traditional cast iron. The column has a low center of gravity, which supports the spindle s cutting speed and power while maximizing rigidity. Unrivaled platform rigidity allows the spindle to achieve maximum performance in the toughest of cuts. Ballscrew Thermo Stabilizer For long-term positioning accuracy, the FH-J Series is equipped with a ballscrew thermo stabilizer (BTS) function. A heat displacement sensor on each ballscrew calculates the length of the ballscrew during machining and feeds that measurement to the control. Each stroke automatically adjusts for the ballscrew s current length. The BTS function eliminates the need for costly linear scales and internal cooling mechanisms, which may compromise the integrity of the ballscrew. Results of Ballscrew Displacement Correction After Continuous Positioning is Performed Fanuc 31i Control The Fanuc 31i CNC delivers high-end features for a wide range of production and job shop environments. It adopts the fieldbus, which is a network that allows control devices such as PLC, PC, and sensor actuators to be easily connected with each other. This network permits cable savings and increased reliability. Preventive maintenance information is displayed on the CNC s screen. By selecting the optional advanced machine diagnostic function, it is easy to pinpoint the cause of machine failure. Specifications subject to change

3 Built For SPEED High-Speed Spindle Toyoda s 15,000 RPM, 167 Nm (123 ft-lb) spindle brings exceptional performance to the FH450J. This high-speed spindle has four bearing packs, which allows it to sustain higher radial pressures than the typical three-bearing design. The spindle also doesn t require warm-up time, due to its patented bearing preload design. As a standard accessory, the FH450J is equipped with 435 psi coolant through spindle. Spindle Torque 167 Nm (123 ft-lb) 15,000 RPM Spindle - Robust Linear Guideways The low-friction IKO linear guideways on the FH450J are cylindrical, which provide more surface contact and rigidity than standard ball bearings. During sudden acceleration, the bearings are able to position more quickly and with smaller orientation changes, contributing to a higher level of efficiency. Tool Storage The FH450J s automatic tool changer has a standard 60 pockets and an optional ATC with 119 pockets. 4 Built For CAPACITY Large Work Envelope Toyoda s FH450J maximizes machining capacity while maintaining a compact footprint. The work envelope has a maximum swing of Ø 630 mm (Ø in) and height of 900 mm (35.43 in). Originally developed for high-production environments, this machine is ideal for automation. Occupying minimal floor space, multiple FH450Js can be placed next to each other for in-line operations. This layout can increase part loading efficiency and overall production. Efficient for light and heavy chip loads, this design also reduces coolant consumption. Slant Cover The internal slant cover minimizes chip accumulation External Nozzle Coolant Installed at the spindle nose, the nozzle supplies coolant to the cutting point. 4 Overhead Shower Coolant Installed in the ceiling, the shower coolant nozzle keeps chip accumulation inside the machine to a minimum. 5 Coolant Through Spindle Coolant is supplied through the spindle center to the cutting edge. Effective for lubrication and cooling of the cutting point, it also increases chip disposal efficiency and extends tool life.
