2 S OU L WA RS The Mortal Realms are known as such for good reason. Those that live there may do as they please with their natural span; that too is worth fighting for. Yet each thing that lives, from the merest insect to the mightiest behemoth must ultimately meet the end of its days. When it does so, it becomes one with death. At that point it is the property of one being, and one being alone, to do with as he sees fit for the rest of time. That being is named Nagash. Yet there are those that have stolen souls from Nagash s clutches as the aeons have slid by. The God-King Sigmar s great betrayal was in plucking souls from mortals on the threshold of death, to re-forge into his Stormcast Eternal armies. In Ulgu and Hysh, souls of aelves rescued from Slaanesh s essence once more took form within the Mortal Realms. Those that worship the Chaos Gods wilfully sell their soul in exchange for power, and in doing so impinge upon Nagash s rightful tithe. The story is much the same in each realm, for in every race there are those that seek to cheat death, yet in doing so, all have stolen from Nagash, and all have earned his retribution. The Great Black Pyramid, Nagash s defining monument imbued with a grand spell that would eclipse that which had stripped all life from Nehekhara, was to be the beginning of a carefully planned arcane coup. Yet, with the interfering schemes of the Skaven corrupting the work of Nagash, the energies of the Shyish inversion were far more destructive than even Nagash had envisioned. A great Necroquake was unleashed across the Mortal Realms, and a new era of death ascendant had risen with it. The Soul Wars had began.

3 A Campaign Weekend at Warhammer World is a unique experience like no other. Each game you play is set in the rich narrative of the Mortal Realms allowing players to embrace the lore and immerse themselves in a vivid story. If you want to play fun games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, but forge a narrative with your army and fight for your faction in the Soul Wars, then a Campaign Weekend is a one-of-a-kind experience not to be missed. Our Story Begins Ghur Realm of Beasts a land where primal violence lurks everywhere, rugged mountains form the horizon and gnawed carcasses of great monsters, devoured of their flesh, lie in abundance across the landscape. Throughout the Realm great hordes of beasts are on the move, spurred on by the dreams and visions of their shamans drawing them to the Fight at the End of the World. To many caught in the skirmishes across this realm, this is no more than regular migrations made by the savage tribes. Yet, unbeknownst to all, the cataclysmic Shyish Nadir the Necroquake, is soon to wreak havoc across all the Mortal Realms, drawing the forces of each Grand Alliance towards Shyish for a showdown with the forces of death. Your army will begin this event caught up within the middle of one of many battles fought in the Realm of Beasts, yet will soon be drawn to the Realm of Death like so many others within the Mortal Realms. Campaign weekends offer a wealth of opportunities to explore the narrative behind your army, whilst the flexibility to change your army roster over the course of the event allows you to adapt it to the story being told. For example, what would your army look like within the Realm of Beasts, and why is it there? How would it change once the energies of the Shyish Nadir have increased the potency of magic? How might your army develop when marching towards war in the Realm of Death? Furthermore, you ll also be at war with the effects of the Realms themselves, in addition to fending off rampaging Monstrous Beats in Ghur and countering predatory endless spells once Nagash unleashes the Necroquake (see Battleplans section) Event Essentials Date: 25th - 26th August 2018 System: Warhammer Age of Sigmar Matched Play Army Size: 750 points, 1000 points and 2000 points per player using the Matched Play rules found in the Generals Handbook 2018, plus a Monstrous Beast. See the Choosing Your Army and Battleplans section for more details. Number of games: 7 Publications in Use: All current and in-print Warhammer Age of Sigmar Battletomes, Grand Alliance books, warscroll compendiums (including those from Forge World), General s Handbook 2018, any warscrolls and warscroll battalions with a Pitched Battle profile, and all up-to-date FAQs and Errata. Any future publications are in use unless their release falls on the weekend of the event. We expect you to use the most current warscrolls for your models e.g. those found in a battletome rather than a Grand Alliance book or warscroll compendium. Battleplans in use: This event will be using custom narrative Battleplans. Meals: Lunch is provided on both days of the event. Other Activities: Painting competitions and free entry to the Warhammer World exhibition.

4 Model Requirements Playing exciting, atmospheric games with painted miniatures is a big part of our events at Warhammer World. With this in mind, all miniatures in your collection must be Citadel or Forge World miniatures, and be fully assembled, painted and based. Each model must completely and accurately represent its entry on your army roster (including all weapons and equipment). Furthermore, you need to contact us to let us know about any conversions you are planning on using, and provide us with photos of the models in question where possible. Don t worry we fully appreciate spectacular modelling skills, but we just want to make sure everything is absolutely clear for your opponent so that no confusion can arise during games. We will politely ask you to remove any models that don t meet these standards. To protect everyone s experience. If you would like more information on Warhammer World s model requirements then read our guide here: Painting Competitions During the event we will hold three painting competitions. These are there to celebrate hobbyists who have gone the extra mile in their modelling and painting to create something truly remarkable. To enter you must have done the building and painting yourself and the models must be from the army you are using at the event. The first competition is the Legends painting competition. This is perfect for any particular models in your army you are most proud of. It s open entry, so each player may enter model(s) of their choice from their individual army into each of the categories for peer judging. The winning model from each category will win a Legend award for that player. The categories are as follows: Hero of Legend includes any single Leader, Battleline or uncategorised model. Company of Legend includes any unit of between two and five models, not including any Behemoth, Behemoth Leader or Artillery models. Icon of Legend includes any Behemoth, Behemoth Leader or Artillery model (plus any attendant crew) Monstrous Beast of Legend for monsters present at the weekend that fulfil the Monstrous Beasts Realm of Battle Rule (see Battleplans section for more detail) The Events Team will nominate a shortlist for the Best Army competition. This is a prestigious award for hobbyists who manage to achieve a truly excellent standard of hobby consistently across their whole army. Peer judging will take place with the winner earning the Best Army award. The Events Team may specify additional requirements during the event for any unusual or particularly large entries. Please note that to win any of our painting competitions, each player must have built and painted the models themselves.

5 Choosing Your Army Throughout the course of this Campaign Weekend you will play seven games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar using elements of both Narrative Play and Matched Play from the Age of Sigmar Core Book and Generals Handbook As the Battleplans are revealed on the day, you may want to bring a selection of units to use over the weekend. This is so players can build their armies to embrace the narrative of the weekend and Battleplan at hand, therefore feel free to change your army roster between games. However we do expect players to follow a certain code of conduct if they do change their army roster. For instance it s not acceptable to see what army your opponent has, then change your roster to deliberately counter them. This goes against the spirit of the weekend. When considering your army for the event, follow the pitched battle chart on page 48 of the Generals Handbook 2018 noting the following: There will be one 1000 point game following Vanguard restrictions set before the Necroquake (Malign Sorcery rules NOT in use) There will be two 2000 point games following Battlehost restrictions There will be two 1000 point games following Vanguard restrictions There will be two 750 point games following Vanguard restrictions Battleplans Throughout this event we will be using custom Battleplans that reflect the impact of the Necroquake across the Mortal Realms and the beginning of the Soul Wars. The campaign begins within Ghur the Realm of Beasts, before moving onto Shyish. Spells of the Realms and Artefacts of the Realms (from Malign Sorcery) will be in use at this event, in addition Full Realm of Battle rules will be used (Pages Core Book) including the MONSTEROUS BEASTS rule found within Ghur: The Realm of Beasts (page 257). This presents the opportunity for all players taking part in the campaign weekend to bring along a MONSTER that is not a HERO, nor part of your main army, to use during the event. We will have a limited number of monsters available for those that don t wish to bring their own, however we would encourage all players to embrace this aspect of the campaign weekend and we will have a special Monstrous Beast of Legend painting competition for these beasts. With Nagash s scheming raising the potency of magic across the Mortal Realms, this campaign weekend will interact with spells and sorcery, so to engage with this event to it s full potential we would recommend including a couple of WIZARDS within your army. Excluding the first game of the weekend, the Malign Sorcery rules will be in play so this serves as a fantastic opportunity to engage with the new Endless Spells. The events team will have a few Endless Spells available to use during the event for those that wish to use them during some of their games, however for guaranteed access to the spells you want we would encourage players to bring their own.

6 Theming Your Army As Campaign Weekends are fully set in the narrative and lore of the Mortal Realms, we would ask players to approach their games in kind. There are many ways to do this: Consider theme and narrative for the Battleplan at hand when selecting your army. For example, an ambush Battleplan would see shooting and flanking units, whilst a last stand Battleplan would be better suited to tough Heroes and their retinues. An appropriate selection of units really helps set the scene of a battle. Think about the rule of cool and how the events of your games can forge a narrative. Could your General make an epic charge and defeat an enemy in single combat against the odds? Could your last few Stormcast make a glorious stand against an incoming horde of enemies? At the end of the event these tales of heroism will go down in the annals of history forging a narrative of fame (or infamy) to share with other hobbyists. Think about the tempo of the game and how the Battleplan objectives can be achieved cinematically. A rising crescendo of events where there s back and forth between both players, vital combats taking place and a finale that s close up until the final dice roll will create a thematic and fulfilling game for all. If one player is wiped off the table in turn one, this wouldn t be the most satisfying narrative game. Embrace the flexibility of narrative play to better suit the personality of your army. A Tzeench wizard may be more concerned with spellcasting and summoning than direct combat, whilst a Ironjawz General would rather charge headlong into close quarters combat, forgoing holding objectives for the thrill of the fight. Play to the very end. Some of us will remember a time where we ve snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, and it s a mighty tale to be told! Even if things are looking grim early into the game, sometimes some savvy decisions and lucky dice rolls will achieve the unexpected, be it a defiant last stand or even a crafty victory. Have a chat with your opponent beforehand such as when talking through their army. What inspired them to create their army and choose those particular units? Why is their army present in certain Realms and what are they looking to achieve? These are just a few methods of embracing the spirit of Narrative Play and we would encourage all players to consider them. We may award spot prizes for any heroic feats that take place during the weekend, so if it happens, come let us know! Favourite Game Vote At the end of the event, we ask you to vote for two opponents who gave you the most enjoyable game over the weekend. This might be because they were great fun to play against, fully embraced the narrative of the event, or it was a close game with exciting highlights. Favourite Game Votes will be used to determine the campaign awards for the end ceremony.

Mortarch of Shyish - for the player from Grand Alliance Death with the most Favourite Game votes, with best results from the games as a secondary sorter. Violent Fanatic - for the player from Grand Alliance Destruction with the most Favourite Game votes, with best results from the games as a secondary sorter. Everchosen s Apprentice - for the player from Grand Alliance Chaos with the most Favourite Game votes, with best results from the games as a secondary sorter. The Monster Slayer - For the player that slays the most models with the MONSTER keyword. Headtaker - For the player that slays the most models with the HERO keyword. Hero of Legend - as voted by you, for the winner of the Hero category. Company of Legend - as voted by you, for the winner of the Company category. Icon of Legend - as voted by you, for the winner of the Icon category. Monstrous Beast of Legend - as voted by you, for the winner of the Monstrous Beast category. Best Army - as voted by you, for the most impressive looking army. Scribe of Legend - at event staff discretion for any players that embrace the narrative of the weekend.
