2 Battle Companies is a fast paced, immersive series of linked scenarios for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. Driven by an extraordinary narrative that is unique to every player that sets foot on the battlefield, this Battle Companies event allows your group of warriors to develop and grow in experience as you play twelve games across the weekend. Furthermore, this event will feature four specifically written narrative scenarios provided by the Middle-earth team. These will have your Battle Company fighting in key locations from Middle-earth as they defend their homelands or seek the ruin of Middle-earth. There are few finer moments than watching your Battle Company evolve after each battle glorious heroes embark on tales of daring and valour, as fell champions of the The Dark Lord rise up to wage war in his name. Mourn the passing of those who fall to injury and revel in the glory of the few who ascend to the ranks of mighty heroes of Middle-earth as the campaign progresses. EVENT ESSENTIALS System: Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Battle Companies Army Size: One Battle Company chosen from the pre-made selections, plus an Opposing Force of the same alignment (Good or Evil). Missions: Four narrative scenarios specifically written for this event in addition to five scenarios from the Battle Companies supplement. Number of games: 12 Battle Company Selection: Choose a Battle Company using the rules presented in the Battle Companies publication. You are encouraged to bring extra models to represent upgrades as necessary. In addition, you must have your own copy of the Battle Companies publication to play in this event. You may also choose Battle Companies from White Dwarf. Opposing Force Selection: One 75 point, one 125 point and one 175 point force of the same alignment as your Battle Company (Good or Evil), with restrictions on Heroes. See the choosing your Battle Company and Opposing Force section for full details. Meals: Lunch is provided on both days Other Activities: Painting competitions, Saturday night entertainment and free entry to the Warhammer World exhibition.

3 MODEL REQUIREMENTS Playing exciting, atmospheric games with fully painted miniatures is a big part of our events at Warhammer World. With this in mind, all miniatures in your collection must be 100% Citadel or Forge World miniatures, and be fully assembled, painted and based. Each model must completely and accurately represent its entry on your Battle Company roster (including all weapons and equipment). This is especially important with Battle Companies as equipment can change throughout the weekend. If you think you will get a spear, then make sure to have the correct model to hand! You need to contact us to let us know about any conversions you are planning on using, and provide us with photos of the models in question where possible. You only need to get in touch with us about conversions that go above and beyond what is normally required for a battle company adding a whip or a pair of shackles to a model doesn t need our permission, but turning Galadriel into a Mirkwood Ranger would. Don t worry we fully appreciate spectacular modelling skills, but we just want to make sure everything is super clear for your opponent so that no confusion can arise during games. We will politely ask you to remove any models that don t meet these above standards to protect everyone s experience. If you would like more information on Warhammer World s model requirements then read our guide here: THE GAMES Over the weekend you will play 12 games of Middle-earth Battle Companies. Five of these games will be using scenarios presented as they are found in the Battle Companies book. For each of these games you will be paired using a Swiss system to match you against players of a similar Battle Company Rating. By playing opponents of a similar Battle Company Rating, you are more likely to be matched up evenly, creating enjoyable games for all. For each narrative scenario players are paired up with an opponent and will play two games against this player. Each player will have the opportunity to play the scenario using their Battle Company, whilst also taking the place of the Opposing Force. Each of these scenarios will have a Good and Evil side, with a different special rule in play depending on the alignment of the Battle Company playing it. The final game of the weekend will be a multiplayer game where players are randomly paired with others from the same faction to form teams of three. Teams will then face off for an epic 3x3 showdown with their Battle Companies, where teamwork, adaptability and quick thinking will win the day! To the Rescue! If any heroes are unfortunate enough to roll Lost In Battle on the Hero Injury Chart, for this event instead treat the result as a miss next game. CODE OF CONDUCT AND SUDDEN DEATH At the weekend, we place great emphasis on playing excellent games with like-minded people at the home of Games Workshop. Therefore we expect players to play each game with a certain code of conduct to support this. When you arrive at your table for a game, greet your opponent, introduce yourself, offer them a copy of your Battle Company Roster and start the game promptly. We then expect players to treat each other positively and demonstrate good sportsmanship. With regards to conceding, we expect all players to see the game through to the very end and not concede, as doing so can impact other players Battle Company Ratings and ultimately, the final rankings. In the unlikely event that a player does concede before the game has reached its natural conclusion, then the conceding player earns a loss and gains no influence from the game. The winning player records a victory and all of their models make a Full Recovery the rout of the enemy was so total that there is ample time to see to the wounded. In addition each warrior and hero gains a minimum of 1 Experience Point.

4 CHOOSING YOUR BATTLE COMPANY AND OPPOSING FORCE For this event, each player is required to bring their Battle Company, plus an army to use in the Narrative Scenarios, who take the place of the Opposing Force. When choosing your Battle Company, it must be chosen from one of the pre-made Battle Companies found in the Battle Companies book, or from those featured in White Dwarf. Your Opposing Force must come from the same alignment as your Battle Company (Good or Evil), and adhere to the following: The first Opposing Force is up to 75 points, and does not have to include a hero (though it may include no more than one). The second is up to 125 points, and must include one (and only one) hero. The third is up to 175 points and must include one hero. An additional hero may be chosen for a maximum of two heroes. Each force must be between 5 and 20 models, and may only include a maximum of 1 monster. Your Opposing Force cannot include your Battle Company, though you may use the same models as their standard profiles if they are appropriately equipped. When choosing your Opposing Force, the Warband system from page 100 of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Rules Manual, is NOT in use. An Opposing Force must be chosen from the same army list, however each differently sized Opposing Force can be from a different army list. Example BATTLE COMPANY ROSTERS Every Battle Company at the event needs to have a Battle Company Roster. You will need to keep this updated throughout the weekend. A PDF download of a blank Battle Company Roster is available from Jay has chosen to use a Lake-Town Battle Company for this event, so his Opposing Force must be a Good force. He has chosen to take 75 points of Minas Tirith for his first opposing force, and with the addition of a few more models reaches 125 points for his second opposing force. For his third opposing force, Jay has instead decided to use 175 points of Mirkwood Injury, Experience and Reinforcement rolls must be witnessed by your opponent, and likewise any spending on wargear and equipment must also be done in their presence. After each game simply record any changes that occurred to your Battle Company, and have your opponent sign beside it. In addition, you will need to write down your Opposing Forces on a separate roster.

5 PAINTING COMPETITION COMPETITIONSS During the event we will hold two painting competitions. These are there to celebrate hobbyists who have gone the extra mile in their modelling and painting to create something truly remarkable. To enter you must have done the building and painting yourself and the models must be from the Battle Company or Opposing Force you are using at the event. The first competition is the Legends painting competition. This is perfect for any particular models in your army you are most proud of. It s open entry, so each player may enter model(s) of their choice from their individual army into each of the categories for peer judging. The winning model from each category will win a Legend award for that player. The categories are as follows: Hero of Legend includes any one model from either you Battle Company or Opposing Force. Company of Legend includes any group of 2-5 models, or 2-3 models on larger bases, from either your Battle Company or Opposing Force The Events Team will nominate a shortlist for the Best Company competition. This is a prestigious award for hobbyists who manage to achieve a truly excellent standard of hobby consistently across their whole Battle Company. Peer judging will take place with the winner earning the Best Company award. The Events Team may specify additional requirements during the event for any unusual or particularly large entries. Please note that to win any of our painting competitions, each player must have built and painted the models themselves. SPORTSMANSHIP AND HEROIC ACTS Over the day you will see your Battle Companies engaging in battles against all manner of foes. These battles will be tense and exciting as every arrow fired and blow struck can seriously affect the final outcome. During these tense moments you may see warriors fall by wayside, struck down by a lucky arrow, or heroes falling foul of mobs of lesser foes. Equally likely are those destined few who, through sheer dogged determination or outrageous luck, defy all the odds and overcome unimaginable difficulties to emerge from the fires of war triumphant! These mighty acts are the very stuff of legend and we wish to make sure they are recorded and rewarded as such. When this kind of act happens write it down on the slips provided and hand it in. We will choose the greatest of these and the winner shall be the recipient of the Most Heroic Act award. Additionally, when you hand in your final scorecard we will ask you to vote for two opposing players you enjoyed playing against the most (note that you can t vote for the same player twice!). Maybe they displayed excellent sportsmanship, perhaps they were positive and friendly, or it was generally a fun and engaging game. The player with the most Favourite Game Votes, will become the recipient of the Most Sporting Player award.

6 THE AWARDS Tiebreakers Best Good Battle Company Best Evil Battle Company In the event of a tie for the highest Battle Company Rating we will use the following tiebreakers to determine the final rankings, in the following order of priority: Most Heroic Act Campaign Winners (Good or Evil) Hero of Legend Company of Legend Best Company Most Sporting Player Number of Wins Leaders Slain Favourite Game Votes For example, Jay and Chris both have a Battle Company rating of 68, so we go to tiebreakers to establish who has the higher rank. Both have won an equal number of games, therefore they are still of the same rank. Moving onto the next tiebreaker, we find Jay has killed three Leaders, whilst Chris has only recorded two Leaders Slain. Jay would therefore finish above Chris in the final rankings.
