1 South Carolina Numismatic Association 42nd Annual Convention October 24-26, 2014 TD Convention Center Exposition Dr. Greenville, SC SOUTH CAROLINA NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION

2 Bourse Chairman s Message Greetings! And welcome to the 42nd Annual SCNA Convention and Coin Show. This is the sixth straight year that the TD Convention Center has hosted our convention and I am sure that we will have a wonderful time again here this year. As you can see, we have plenty of space in our new hall for the many dealers that are here to serve you. There is a wide range of numismatic materials for sale from currency, to coins, to tokens and medals. Some items are very rare and priced accordingly, but there are lots of 10 cent items here, too. Whatever your numismatic needs are, I am sure that you can find something to satisfy them. We also have some free educational programs if you have the time to spare. There is a fine group of educational exhibits present this year the largest group in recent memory. Also, our educational programs begin on Saturday at 11 am. Please see the convention schedule on page 8 for more information. All collectors are invited to join the SCNA, please see the registration desk for an application blank. We would love to have you and your family as members. And, of course, all members are invited to attend the annual meeting, which takes place on Saturday morning at 9am. Thank you for attending our show and we hope that you enjoy yourself so much, that you won t miss attending again next year. The dates for next year s show have already been set. We will have the 43rd Annual Convention next year on October 30 November 1, 2015 at the TD Convention Center. If there is anything that I can personally do for you, please don t hesitate to ask me. I can be found at table #101, or flag down any of the SCNA personnel and ask for me. Regards, Tony Chibbaro SCNA Bourse Chairman 2

3 President s Message, On behalf of the Board of Directors of the SCNA, I want to welcome everyone to the 42nd annual Convention of the South Carolina Numismatic Association, once again in Greenville. We hope that you find that last coin to finish your collection that you are looking for at this year's show or to start a new collection. Dealers providing everything from colonials, foreign coins, currency, tokens, dollars to cents are at your service throughout the show. Feel free to ask any questions or ask them for an appraisal of any coins you have to sell. Be sure to attend the educational talks for both young numismatists and adults alike. Kids can learn about President Lincoln and receive SCNA dollars to spend at the show! Finally, a big thanks to our Bourse Chairman, Dr. Tony Chibbarro for another wonderful convention. Please let Tony know that you enjoyed the Convention and that you look forward to coming again next year. Erik Erik Larson SCNA President Table 209 3

24 The South Carolina Numismatic Association has designed a new YN gift certificate that is based on the 1896 $2 Education Note. These unique gift certificates will be changed every year using another famous note from the past. This years note was designed by Randy Clark Exhibits Chair and Will Gragg Webmaster. The idea behind the notes is to make something unique and collectible for the youth and public. Single notes will be awarded to the YN Exhibit program winners and other YN program participants. Each note has 2014 series # and serial number. These notes may be used like cash at the Dealers tables by the YN's at the 2014 SCNA convention. Dealers who accept these from YNs can redeem them at the front desk, or keep them as a souvenir. Three note proof sheets will be available at the front desk for $10.00 each. A limited number of proof sheets will be available for the public to purchase. All proceeds from the sales of the proof sheets will benefit the SCNA YN programs. Thank you for your support of our youth in the hobby. copy copy 24
