He is a legend in the industry, inspiring his friends and his expansive base of followers with work reminiscent of family, tradition, spirituality, and love of country. Jim s signature look of handmade, hand-carved art evokes appreciation and nostalgia, while embracing inspired themes of folklore and tradition found within American and European folk art. Jim is also a quilting aficionado who collects antique quilt patterns and actually designs his own unique patterns as well. His signature style often combines traditional quilt patterns and one of his favourite types of folk art, rosemaling. 4 My new Folklore collection is steeped in the folk-art traditions that I love, a combination of rustic textures and lighthearted imagery that are to my mind timeless. These handcrafted designs bring back memories of simpler times, of evenings spent with family and friends. They have a sense of innocence and purity, something that reaches deep into our shared values and traditions. Folklore is a return to my roots as an artist, for me it s a reminder of who we are and where we ve come from.
