1 2012 Young Artist and Authors Showcase Youth as a Catalyst for Change The world today is more connected than ever. With the help of social media and innovative new methods of communication and mobilization of groups, change can occur at a faster pace than ever before. Throughout the world, this new generation of youth is harnessing this power to create change and promote progress. The 2012 theme is an opportunity for youth to use artwork, poems, and essays to express how communication, technology, and individual initiative can lead to dramatic social change. The global interactions and interconnection we have available thanks to the internet mean that as the people set to lead the global community, we the youth can make a huge impact in even the smallest ways

The new moon done in acrylic symbolizes a new kind of communication and way of learning, the photo shopped hands represent all of the worlds youth, and that they are reaching our and achieving this change.

Chaos surrounds her. Gradually she comes out of the dark into the light, and finally sees herself clearly. Her thoughts become clearer and she knows for the first time what is wrong and what needs to be changed.

It means that people could get to know each other better though music and become friends. The world would be made more beautiful because of music.

13 Honorable Mention Ocean of Infinite Knowledge Kamilla Radeczki Debrecen, Hungary Sister City of New Brunswick, NJ I was inspired by the infinite amount of data, which reaches the youngsters nowadays through the internet. And yet, they can deal with this endless flow of information and keep everything in order as they are more and more surrounded by the technological innovations than any generation ever before.
