Digital ENG Camera Antenna Designed for use with the Link wireless camera this low loss antenna provides the optimum performance when used on a portable digital ENG camera. The wide vertical Beamwidth maintains the received signal as the camera tilts. These new rugged flexible versions cover each the frequency bands as shown below. A long version is also available for use on the backpack. 6 Digital ENG Receive Antenna A 80 degree beamwidth antenna for the Link wireless camera receiver, down converter. This low loss antenna provides the optimum performance to cover a sports stadium or similar event. The antenna may be rotated to point in the optimum direction. For stadium use mount the antenna in the corner of the stadium at a height of about 4m. The picture shows the 3G version. Height: Width: Depth: Element Polorization: : 76 mm 95 mm 65 mm N plug Slot 9 dbi 80 o 80 o Type No. Frequency Range Case styles may vary for different bands. L to 1.60 GHz L to 2.70 GHz L to 3.70 GHz L to 5.90 GHz L to 7.50 GHz Polar Diagrams Horizontal By placing the antennas in the corner, all round coverage of a typical stadium is accurately covered by this high gain antenna. 6
Digital ENG Receive Antenna An 90 degree beamwidth high gain sectoral horn antenna for the Link wireless camera receiver, down converter. This low loss antenna provides the optimum performance for Cellular Diversity in the 7G band. For cellular diversity applications covering a wider beamwidth, use four antennas at 45 o angular spacing feeding a four input receiver. This will give good coverage of a area from roof tops or towers. The antennas should be pointed down to just below the horizon. It is important to use a low loss, low VSWR, microwave grade coaxial cable between the antenna and down converter. Height: Width: Length: Polorization: : Type No: Frequency range: 200 mm 35 mm 470 mm N socket 16 dbi 90 o 12 o L to 7.5 GHz Polar Diagrams Four horns spaced at 45 o angular spacing. This provides 180 o for Cellular Diversity coverage. 7
Digital ENG Low Profile Antenna A low profile antenna suitable for mounting on to vehicles for linking to a terrestrial base station. The antenna is now fitted with a powerful magnetic base. For non magnetic surfaces the antenna may be fitted to the vehicle with adhesive tape or for more permanent use, four M4 fixing holes are provided in the base plate. The antenna is fitted with a 1m long PTFE cable strong enough to be able to pass through the edge of a door or window. The cable is fitted with a type N plug for direct connection to the LinkXP transmitter, receiver or power amplifier. Typical applications are for use on rally cars, racing cars, or other vehicles and it may be mounted on a metallic or non-metallic surface. The polar diagram is a typical doughnut shape tilted up by 20o for sideways transmission. The antenna is not suitable for direct up/down transmission to/from an aircraft; use a Link Up/Down antenna for this application. Height: Diameter: Total Weight: Cable: Impedance: Cable loss: Polarisation: : Tilt: Max. 9 UP/Down Digital ENG Antenna Details A short helix antenna designed for use with the Link wireless camera system. This wide band helix antenna is suitable for up/down use to and from a helicopter from a bike following a cycle race, for example. The helix design is based on the work done by King and Wong (NEC) in addition to a unique Link Research matching arrangement to produce a very efficient, wide band design. The helix is at d.c. ground to avoid static pickup. In use, one helix would be mounted on the camera to transmit up to a helicopter. Two or four helixes would be mounted on the helicopter, pointing down, for diversity reception. At a helicopter height of 5000ft (1.5Km) a transmit power of 100mW at 64QAM is sufficient at 2Ghz. At this height the helicopter needs to be overhead within a horizontal range of 0.7Km from the bike, assuming line of sight. A separate antenna and transmitter will be required to relay the signal back to the truck or studio. For in-band use careful filtering and wide frequency separation will be required to avoid cross modulation of the diversity receiver in the aircraft. N socket 8 dbi Polarization: CW Circular Beamwidth: 85 o Element: 1.5 turn helix Case sizes may vary for each band. Type No L3603 L3610 L3612 L3614 Frequency 1.7 to 2.8 GHz 3.3 to 3.7 GHz 5.2 to 5.9 GHz 6.0 to 7.5 GHz 9
Digital ENG Receive Antenna High Gain, Wide Beamwidth Airborne Diversity Antenna Details High gain antennas have a narrow beamwidth but by combining the output of four type up/down small helix antennas using a four input diversity receiver with the antennas mounted as shown above, the high gain of the helix is maintained and the effective beamwidth is almost 180 degrees. The individual antenna beamwidths overlap to take advantage of diversity reception. This solves the problem of producing a wide beamwidth antenna for airborne use where the antenna moves from overhead to several kilometres away from the camera. The equivalent polar diagram below shows that the gain is lower when the antenna is overhead and closer to the camera. The gain gets higher as the antenna moves away, exactly what is required of an airborne antenna. Receiver Connections Polar Diagram 4 i/p Rx. The 2G version is shown here. (Flight approval must be obtained by the user) 10
High Gain Digital ENG Antenna Details A high gain antenna designed for use with the Link XP camera system. This wide band helix antenna is suitable for point to point links or for receiving a remote camera where this antenna can be accurately manually steered to point at the camera. The helix design is based on the work done by King and Wong (NEC) in addition to a unique Link Research matching arrangement to produce a very efficient, wide band design. The helix is d.c. grounded to avoid static pickup. Length: Diameter: Clamp: Polarization: Frequency range: : Element: Type No: 1 m 48 mm 40mm dia N socket 15 dbi CW Circular 1.5 to 2.8 GHz 20 o 20 o 29 turn helix L
