What is HAM RADIO Who, What, How, Where, When and Why J. Currie, W7ARK Digital Communications Science Education Experimentation Instrumentation Measurements Safety Emergency Communications Wide Number of Frequencies Space Communications Digital Communication: accurate replication, noise immunity, can be encrypted, Transmission at a higher rate, more secure, clearer human audio, minimal electromagnetic interference and narrow Band width. html
Overview Of Radio Welcome to Amateur Radio Radio, Equipment and Signal Fundamentals Electricity, Components, and Circuits Propagation, Antennas, and Feed Lines Communicating with Other Hams Ambassador to other countries Contests Your Path forward The Radio Story is just beginning to be understood as we collect information from satellites. 4 History of Wireless Guglielmo Marconi Physicist Nobel Prize for Physics 1909 Heinrich Hertz demonstrated electromagnetic radiation. From Wire To Wireless Read Book Thunderstruck by Erik Larson Today Digital- Dstar, CW, Ritty, Psk31, Winlink, and ETC Study the Classical Experiments Electrical, waves and etc
How Do Radios Work? 1. Negative ve charged Electrons repel each other 2. Conductors have spare, loosely held Electrons 3. Flowing Electrons in conductors create a Magnetic Field 4. AC Current at high frequencies are Electromagnetic waves 5. These Waves travel at the speed of light. 6. Specific Frequencies can travel great distances. 7. Radio Electronic can send and Receive these waves. Examples For Today are Digital Communication 1. Charge Van der Graah Generator 2. Magnetism Compass Needle, Sliding Magnet field 3. Electromagnetic Spectrum and Waves -- Spring 4. Digital Transmission Simplex ---Reflector--QSO 5. Antennas Length in meters = 300/Frequency MHZ 6. Satellites

Sun Earth Connection The Sun's plasma is so hot that the most energetic charged particles can escape from the Sun's gravity and fly away, out into space. We call this plasma the solar wind because it blows out away from the Sun and past the planets, interacting with their magnetic fields and/or atmospheres.
Earth s Magnetic Field Earth's magnetic field comes from this ocean of iron, which is an electrically conducting fluid in constant motion. Sitting atop the hot inner core, the liquid outer core seethes and roils like water in a pan on a hot stove. These complex motions generate our planet's magnetism through a process called the dynamo effect

What Happens During Radio Communication? Transmitting (sending a signal): Information (voice, data, video, commands, etc.) is converted to electronic form. The information in electronic form is attached or embedded on a radio wave (a carrier). The radio wave is sent out from the station antenna into space.
What Happens During Radio Communication? Receiving end: The radio wave (carrier) with the information is intercepted by the receiving station antenna. The receiver extracts the information from the carrier wave. The information is then presented to the user in a format that can be understood (sound, picture, words on a computer screen, response to a command).
Radio Waves are AC Radio waves (electromagnetic radiation) are ac waves. Radio waves are used to carry the information you want to convey to someone else.
