3 Update on Interference-Causing Equipment Standards ICES (1 of 8) Most recent updates: CLOSED CONSULTATIONS: ICES-Gen (Issue 1) General requirements for compliance of interference-causing equipment (Closed May 1, 2018) General ICES to include common requirements, such as labelling, retention of test report, requirements for demo units, measurement instrumentation, etc. Existing ICES will be reised to remoe common requirements CURRENT CONSULTATIONS: ICES-005 (Issue 5) - Lighting equipment (Closing June 15, 2018) ICES-006 (Issue 3) AC wire carrier current deices (Closing June 15, 2018) 3

5 Reisions Phase 1 (3 of 8) ICES-002 (Issue 7) Vehicles, Boats and Other Deices Propelled by an Internal Combustion Engine, Electrical Means or Both Plan to introduce requirements for electric ehicles, including when they are equipped with WPT: Will refer RSS-216 for ehicles and boats with WPT; Will add requirements for conducted emissions, possibly by referring IEC *; CSA to reiew IEC for possible Canadian deiations; Will remoe requirements that are common to all ICES and instead refer to the new ICES- Gen. *IEC :2017 Electric ehicle conductie charging system - Part 21-1 Electric ehicle on-board charger EMC requirements for conductie connection to AC/DC supply This standard is referred to in CISPR 12, for conducted emissions, but not as a normatie requirement. ICES-002 will make this reference normatie. 5

6 Reisions Phase 1 (4 of 8) ICES-005 (Issue 5) Lighting Equipment (Closing June 15, 2018) Lighting equipment for airfield (runways) will be in the scope of this standard except if it was demonstrated to comply with IEC *; Lighting equipment for airports will be in the scope; Will clarify that lighting equipment used in trailers or recreational ehicles, not directly related to the ehicle function (i.e. headlights or stop/turn signalling lights) are in scope (currently all lights used in road ehicles are excluded); Will refer RSS-216 for lighting equipment with WPT; Will remoe common requirements and refer ICES-Gen. *) This lighting equipment (referred to as aeronautical ground lighting ) is subject to IEC 61827, which, for emissions, refers to the generic emission standard for industrial enironments, IEC

7 Reisions Phase 1 (5 of 8) ICES-006 (Issue 3) AC Wire Carrier Current Deices (Unintentional Radiators) (Closing June 15, 2018) Update the outdated references CSA C and C to latest CISPR and CISPR , respectiely; Significant changes to clarify the test methods and limits and also to align with FCC Part 15 requirements; ICES-006 Issue 3 will refer: CISPR (for the receier), CISPR (for the LISN and oltage probe), CISPR (for test site), CISPR (conducted test method), and CISPR (radiated test method). 7

8 Reisions Phase 2 (6 of 8) ICES-001 (Issue 5) Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) Equipment Currently, references CISPR 11 Ed.4 (CSA-adopted); New CSA WG formed for adopting the CISPR 11 Ed.6.1; Will be updated to refer RSS-216 for WPT deices; Will remoe common requirements and instead call ICES-Gen; ICES-001 will be updated after CSA adoption of CISPR 11 Ed.6.1 with Canadian deiations (estimated Q3 2018). 8

9 Reisions Phase 2 (7 of 8) ICES-003 (Issue 7) Multimedia Equipment (MME) Will be updated to modify reference to CISPR 32 (instead of 22); Plan to also incorporate TV receiers and rescind BETS-7 (i.e. the scope of CISPR 32 will also be the scope of ICES-003); Plan to hae only one set of limits: Will most likely keep the limits in CISPR 32; May keep two measurement method alternaties (ANSI C63.4 or the CISPR 16-series methods referenced in CISPR 32); Howeer, conducted emissions on other than ac mains power lines will be mandatory. Since these are not coered in ANSI C63.4, there will be only one method for conducted emissions on the other EUT ports based on CISPR 32. Will refer RSS-216 for MME with WPT; Will remoe common requirements and instead refer ICES-Gen. 9

10 Reisions Phase 2 (8 of 8) ICES-007 (Issue 1) Household Appliances, Electric Tools, Toys and Similar Apparatus New ICES for household appliances, electric tools, toys and similar apparatus; New CSA WG formed for adopting the CISPR 14-1 Ed.6; Must synchronize with the new ICES-001 (which will call the future CSA CISPR 11 Ed.6.1), since CISPR 11 Ed.6.1 no longer includes induction cooking equipment (which is now subject to CISPR 14-1); Need to also synchronize with the new RSS-216 since this later standard calls for the induction cooking limits in ICES-001; Will refer ICES-Gen for common requirements. 10

12 International Standards Actiities on RF Exposure - Update International Computational Standards IEC/IEEE and -2 Published: Oct and June 2017 FDTD: basics technique and ehicle-mounted antenna Before beginning the certification process, the applicant must consult with ISED to determine if computational modelling is acceptable Draft IEC General requirements for using Finite-Element Method (FEM) for SAR: ehicle-mounted antennas and personal wireless deices Ongoing Reisions International - Measurement standards Draft IEC/IEEE 62209: Unified standard for head and body SAR measurement Unification of and in one single international standard (dual logo IEEE/IEC) Frequency range: 4 MHz to 10 GHz In Canada, SAR not applicable >6 GHz, power density assessment required New methodology to assess Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) Introduction of Fast SAR procedures using ector probe (array) systems Draft IEC : Vector Probe Systems Frequency range: 600 MHz to 6 GHz Decision to moe to a Publicly Aailable Specification (PAS) Objectie: speed up standardization of this technology Draft IEC Technical Report (TR) on power density measurements >6 GHz (portable deices) Adancing 5G readiness for RF exposure compliance TR will be used to define the general requirements of the upcoming IS. 12
