3 RESOLUTION NO. 2011/ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF NINE (9) ADDITIONAL MOTOROLA APX 7000 PORTABLE RADIOS PURSUANT TO AN APPROVED AMENDMENT TO FEMA GRANT NO. EMW-2009-FO WHEREAS, the City of Deerfield Beach was the recipient of a grant from FEMA to enable it to purchase Motorola APX 7000 Portable Radios capable of multi-band interoperability; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Sheriff s Office has an active contract No. 07C-206 for Motorola radio equipment with Motorola, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the contract is presently in force through September 30, 2011; and WHEREAS, the City is in need of an additional nine (9) Motorola APX 7000 Portable Radios; and WHEREAS, the cost of these additional radios is $36,239.40; WHEREAS, based upon this piggybacking opportunity, there is no need for the City to undergo a competitive bidding process as the Motorola contract with the Broward Sheriff s Office has already been the subject of a competitive process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The above referenced Whereas clauses are true and correct and made a part hereof. Section 2. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to undertake the necessary steps to purchase an additional nine (9) Motorola APX 7000 Portable Radios at a price of $36, These radios are to be purchased in part pursuant to an amendment to the award of a FEMA grant.
