With the SA/2 Extension Moule, in combination with the SPRO2 moule, it is possible to make a setup with: 3 or 4 SE channels TL channel an or 2 SE channels 2 TL channels In aition the SA/2 Extension Moule offers a number of reaouts an controls, which allow for external DSP control of the moule. This limits the available current raw for external circuitry compare to the available power when using a single SPRO2. 10 4 Control Reaouts 4. Control pins The control pins of the SA/2 work in conjunction with the SPRO2 moule. The SA/2 moule will be mute through the SPRO2 moule. When muting the SPRO2 moule, the amplifiers outputs will be isable. It typically takes 2 ms to isable an only 4 ms to enable the amplifiers. The mute function may be use with an external wakeonmusic circuitry to lower the mains power consumption when the moules are unuse, but still with the moules reay to play in typically 4 ms making it unnoticeable for the user. With the SA/2 moule an the SPRO2 moule in stanby, the mains power consumption is put to a minimum. In stanby it is possible to comply to the ErP (275/2008/EC) with a total power consumption of less than 0.5W. This inclues a current raw of up to 5 ma on the +7.5V supply for external stanby control circuitry. 4Ω TL Moe Outofthebox the SA/2 moule is optimize for loas from 4 ohm SE (8 ohm TL) an up. Still it is possible to use the SA/2 moule with a 4Ω speaker in TL operation by setting the SPRO2 moule into 4Ω TL Moe. Note 4Ω TL Moe is a global setting selecte by connecting the SPRO2 Pin 4 in Con70 to GND at power up. 4Ω TL Moe applies for all SPRO2 an SA/2 amplifier channels if set on the SPRO2. S A/2 Pin 4 in Con70 can t be use for selecting 4Ω TL Moe only for the SA/2 moule, the pin must be left as a No Connect pin. 4.2 Reaouts The SA/2 has various reaouts to monitor the state of the moule. Amplifier temperature The output stage temperature from 000 is expresse as a DC voltage from 03.3V. When the moule enters thermal protection at 85 equivalent to 2.805V the voltage will jump to 3.3 V inicating thermal protection is active. This makes it possible to both rea the live temperature an rea when the moule is isable ue to thermal protection. The moule exits thermal protection when the temperature rops below 80 an the voltage will return to a live reaout of the actual moule temperature. Amplifier Output Voltage reaout There are two amplifier output voltage reaouts one for each channel. These reaouts are voltage ivisions of the output signals in the range of ±0 Vp corresponing to ±70Vp at the output. This may be use for signal presence inication. Amplifier Clip reaout There are two amplifier clip reaouts one for each channel. These reaouts are opencollector outputs. The reaout pins will be pulle low if the auio output voltage becomes too high, compare to the internal rail voltages, or if the amplifier reaches internal current protection. These reaouts may be use for signal clip/limiting inications. Disable/Protect reaout This reaout is an opencollector output which will be pulle low when either the SPRO2 moule or SA/2 moule is mute or has entere an internal protection. 11 5 Protection features The SA/2 has builtin protection features which protect the moule an speaker from malfunctioning. Clip limiter The clip limiter prevents excessive clipping of the output stage by limiting the input signal. Temperature Temperature protection of the moule is implemente to prevent thermal runaway. When thermal protection is engage both amplifier channels are mute until the temperature has roppe 5 C. Over Current If an amplifier output is shorte or reaches its current limit, the builtin clip limiter will try to limit the input signal. If the limiter isn t capable of limiting the signal the moule will enter overcurrent protection an mute the outputs until the overcurrent is no longer present an the internal protection timing allows the moule to reenable. DC Protection In case of a DC at one of the outputs the amplifier is first mute. If the DC is still present, after 3 cycles, the SA/2 an the connecte SPRO2 are switche off an require a AC recycling to reset. For the SA/2 DC Protection to function correctly, SA/2 control signal moe/dc protect must be connecte to the SPRO2 control signal moe. HF Protection A high frequency protection is implemente in orer to protect the output filter components from overloa above 35 khz. If a high frequency signal is present for a longer perio of time the moule will enter HF protection an mute the outputs until the high frequency signal is no longer present an the internal protection timing allows the moule to reenable.
