1 Solar Radios for Victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines A Story of Partnership: Lifeline Energy and IOM Partnership Story: Lifeline Energy, Free Press Unlimited and IOM
2 INTRODUCTION Typhoon Haiyan swept through the Visayas region of the Philippines in the early morning of 8 November Its unparalleled strength killed thousands of local residents, destroyed and damaged hundreds of thousands of homes and caused large-scale population displacement. Alongside IOM s traditional government donors, private sector partners have played a vital role in donating relief items and contributing services to meet the needs of those affected by the devastating cyclone. Lifeline Energy with the support of Free Press Unlimited has given 1,500 emergency radios to IOM for distribution to beneficiaries on remote islands in the eastern part of the Philippines. The radios help receive key updates during disasters and enhance security at night. IOM is grateful to both Lifeline Energy and Free Press Unlimited for their generous contribution. Monica Goracci Chief, Donor Relations Division
