3 Overview The UBR1 is an affordable GNSS receiver board conceived for Real Time Kinematics experimentation, where a centimetre level accuracy in position is needed. It is able to act as BASE and ROVER. Its receiver and built-in modem will bring you the RAW data needed to feed your Real Time Kinematic algorithm / software. In ROVER operation mode, the received satellites signals are sent to the base by means of the medium power integrated UHF transceiver. In BASE operation mode, the GNSS signals are sent through the USB to the computer (or by the expansion TTL port to your microcontroller) and concurrently the UBR1 act as UHF receiver, bridging the incoming data from the rover to the second USB/TTL channel. All the critical elements as antennas, are integrated in the same board, designed with care and extremely tested to avoid interferences between UHF and GPS/GLONASS stages. You will use the UBR1 as soon as you receive it. No external modules are required. ONCharge in progress OFFCharge finished Two-channel communication interface with GNSS Receiver and Modem. It is also used to supply the current to the module and charge the LiPo battery. Led to indicate a good supply voltage at USB input. Normal status = ON. Activates/Deactivates the board. In OFF position, the charging circuitry remains active to charge the LiPo battery. 5

6 7 Modem SMA Antenna Connection 8 Modem Activity A 9 Expansion Port Here you will plug the 868/915 MHz Antenna included with the UBR1. Bi-colour led modem data indicator: Green Outgoing data from board to air. Red Incoming data from air to board. TTL serial port. When active (via 10 ), the data is not routed into the USB but via the Expansion port. The distribution of pins is as follows: Reg GNSS GNSS Modem Modem GND Output TX RX TX RX 10 Expansion Port Enabler 11- Li-Po Battery Plug & 12 Power extender 13 Modem Config Mode Button 14 GPS/GLONASS Antenna 14 USB GNSS TX/RX Indicator 16 GNSS Antenna U.FL Connector The connector is a JST-PH type. Activates the Expansion Port. It works inverted, thus in ON position the expansion port is deactivated. JST-PH connectors for the 3.7 lithium-polymer battery, The board have an extra connector to power other devices with non-regulated and non-current-limited 3.7V. Push button used for set the modem in configuration mode. This is useful when it is needed to change the modem parameters like frequency, baudrate, etc GNSS Active patch antenna. GNSS Data Activity indicator through the USB. Bi-color led: Green Outgoing data from GNSS receiver to the USB Red Incoming data from the USB to the GNSS receiver, generally used when sending configuration commands. Connector for the GNSS Antenna. The antenna included in the board can be unplugged and the connector used to connect your favourite antenna. 6
