2 Details: 1. Advanced Color Matching The colors printed by GT-782 and GT-541 are originally developed for T-shirts. GT color gamut made by CMYK ink combination is vivid but not wide enough compared with the ink for paper. Therefore, our color management policy is to create stronger but less-natural colors for clear T-shirt designs. But sometimes the colors may be different from the original image. We re-arranged our color profiles to create from the "natural" colors to "vivid" colors. Because of this, the default output looks a little dull (less vivid) and flat. We changed the default "Saturation" and "Contrast" to "5" so that you can select more natural (e.g. 0 or 2, for delicate photo) or much vivider by moving the slide menu. Print "GT_ColorChart_AdvancedCM.arp" installed in [Test Data] of [Brother GT-782 Tools] and compare how those colors are changed compared with "GT_ColorChart.arp" made by the former Printer Driver. With white ink, some of the colors were printed too dark. These issues are improved with this version. Open PDF "GT_ColorChart.pdf" and other PDFs in [Useful Tools] and print them with different settings of the new Advance Color Matching. Of course you can select the former colors by turning "Advanced Color Matching" OFF, which is at the left top of the menu. 2. Improving grays with Color + White with Black ink Sometimes grays with Black Ink on White ink were printed reddish (depending on the machine and the garment), which we improved with this upgrade. 3. Color simulation between with/without Black ink Print without Black Ink is helpful in reducing ink cost but the print result is pretty much different with Black-ink print. We improved the print without Black ink on a black T-shirt like the one with Black ink by producing the gradation of white - gray in the same way as the print with Black ink. On the other hand, white foggy gradation may be printed with CMY ink too and white ink consumption increases compared with the present version. 3 4. Multi-pass printing for Cyan Bandings with new Firmware Sometimes in certain blue colors you can see some thin white lines when the firing is perfect. This is what we call "Cyan Bandings on White ink". This issue is occurred by the combination of Print Head(s) and the Printer and you cannot tell the exact color(s), depending on the printer. On white ink, the ink dots are smaller than the ones directly printed on the garment (imagine that white ink changes the surface like special inkjet photo paper) then human eyes may easily find out that some regular "clearance" lines are between those dots. The reason why Cyan is more critical than other inks is simply because Cyan is often used single in major RGB colors (blues) and Cyan ink dots are very easy to see in white (remember the traffic symbols). Yellow is used single too but you cannot see some thin white lines among vivid yellow. Some machine may have some trouble with Magenta and Black. The following figures in the next page are the images of Cyan Bandings on White Ink: without white ink underbase on white ink (ink dots are smaller) white line appears a certain "blue" on white ink, white line unexpectedly appears image of Multi-Pass Printing, no white clearance Check the check box of Multi-Pass Printing in Advanced Menu then GT-782 changes the amount of Platen Feed to half for more precise printing so that regular clearance will not be seen easily. Be sure to upgrade the firmware at the same time to version Like Yellow/Black Printing and Double Printing, it takes double to print color per one garment. Ink cost is identical.
