13 Introduction Angleblaster Operator s Manual A-2 DTI AngleBlaster is a self contained setup navigation system utilized in angular or plain blast pattern developments.it accurately duplicates the angle and direction of the first hole for the remainder of the pattern without any operater s interaction. Angle data is stored for future recall no matter the amount of time the drill is away from the worksite, days weeks,or months. The operator simply uses touch screen instructions to precisely transfer angular setup information from the first selected hole to the remaider of the pattern without having to leave the cab or make any adjustments to specific mine oriented reference points. The system measures and determines the next hole setup angles regardless of the positioning of the drill insuring that all blast holes are parallel and in the same plane. fig. 1 The DTI Dual - Axis Angle Indication sensor allows the operator to arrive at a precise angle by allowing both Ring (fig. 1) and Dump (fig. 2) movement angles, as well as a combination of the both, (known as compound movement angles). The results are accurate drilling (less bad holes), time and cost saving, record and data storage. The following guide will explain the features, setup, and operation of the DTI AngleBlaster basic system. Consult your dealer for additional options. NOTE: All Screen Buttons are pressure sensitive. fig. 2 SETUP With the DTI AngleBlaster system s visually enhanced design, you are able to personalize the graphic user interface by choosing one of the four graphic skins/views located in the Preference Folder (System Setup) page 13. Graphic View Option B will be used for instruction purposes in this manual (fig. 3). 1. TIP: It is important to remember that the HEADING postion of the drill body does not have to be recorded or tracked because the RING, DUMP and related HEADINGS values are stored in the DTI system s memory. The mast can be moved in any direction in order to make the quickest and most convenient approach to the next hole. This speeds up productivity and accuracy. 2. RING & DUMP GAUGES 1. Once the drill rod is above the next hole marker, Press the TARGET button. The digital gyroscope sensing system retieves saved angle values from the first hole (template hole) and calculates the required TARGET angle values. 2. Align or match the ACTUAL with the TARGET values for both, RING and DUMP by adjusting the mast angle/s. Two options are available: 1. Match the Numerical values of TARGET and ACTUAL in the Readings Window (fig. 26). TARGET numbers are locked in the DTI system and do not change. Move the drill masts RING & DUMP to match the ACTUAL and TARGET numbers. OR 2. Align the arrows in the RING and DUMP Gauges (fig. 26) The GREEN TARGET arrow is stationary. This is your SET TARGET angle saved in the DTI system. The RED ACTUAL arrow represents your current rod tip angle. Move the RING and/or DUMP of the mast, aligning the RED arrow over the GREEN arrow (fig. 26 or 27). At this point it would be helpfull to activate the AUTO TRACK function which reads TRACK values every second (refer to AUTO TRACK page 11) GAUGE VIEW fig READINGS WINDOW When Red Arrows completely align over the Green Arrows the drill mast is in the correct angle for drilling. GAUGE WINDOW (ONLY) fig. 27 RING & DUMP VIEW ONLY (Default Startup Window) Shows actual, or current angle only. 24 LOCAL & ABSOLUTE HEADING Measurements Angleblaster Operator s Manual F-1 The DTI AngleBlaster is equiped with precise gyroscope sensing technology designed to deliver fine accuracy in the measurement of horizontal movement. The sensor head of the DTI system is highly receptive to changes in the intensity and direction of the earth s magnetic field, therefore discrepancies between local and absolute azimuth could be present. Use heading values as reference only (fig 34). If absolute horizontal positioning is required, {with-in 1 inch (30mm)}, please ask your dealer about the DTI - GPS Navigational System. The DTI - GPS Navigational System is not affected by magnetic fields, literally On the Dime accuracy. WARNING IMPORTANT: Magnetic fields or large iron metal mass close to or around the sensor will affect the accuracy of the AZIMUTH (Heading) reading (fig. 34). Electrical motors, coils, generators, permanent magnetic parts and solenoids radiate magnetic fields strong enough to affect accurate readings of the earth s magnetic field. AZIMUTH (HEADING) fig. 34
