UNIVERSITY S DESCRIPTION QUANTITY BIDDER S SPECIFICATION (Please Write Your Specification In This Column) TECHNICAL EVALUATION (For Official Use Only) 1 A. ITEM Metallurgical Microscope With Computer Attachment B. DESCRIPTION One (1) microscope that is capable to perform research-level metallurgical works with the digital metallurgical image analyzer including digital camera, image analyzer and personal computer. The system must generate high quality micrographs and accurate metallurgical results. C. ESSENTIAL FEATURES One (1) microscope that is equipped with essential metallurgical observation modes - bright field, simple polarizing, side enhanced view and metallurgical tint contrast methods, and thus capable to reveal microstructures of various metallurgical specimens. This microscope must be perfectly adapted to digital camera and image analyzer to render high quality digital image for research-level metallurgical works. One (1) digital camera that is capable to render actual colour live view at relatively high speed and covers most of the eyepiece view area. One (1) metallurgical type image analyzer that can perform multiple live functions and correct/enhance the captured image to the highest quality. The image analyzer must be able to perform accurate measurement and analysis with instant report output. One (1) personal computer with compatible specification for above digital camera and image analyzer with at least 23 inch full high definition monitor. 1
2 D. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 1. Metallurgical Microscope The microscope must be of a metallurgical type with incident top illumination and metallurgical objective lens (dry type lens without coverslip correction). The microscope must have rigid body (such as Y-frame) to allow sturdy observation. The microscope must allow essential metallurgical contrast methods as follows: - Bright field - Simple polarizing (360 o rotatable analyzer) - Side enhanced view (adjustable) - Metallurgical tint The objective lens must be of plan achromatic type to deliver an undistorted image with chromatic aberration correction. The optical magnification range must be within 50x 1000x with 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x and 100x objective lens. The nosepiece must be of backward quintuple type. All the objective lens must be parfocal. Infinity type objective lens must be adopted to allow the addition of filters such as a polarizer and tint plate without affecting the image quality. Long working distance feature must be incorporated in the following lenses to avoid collision with the specimen. - 20x (working distance not less than 4 mm) - 50x (working distance not less than 7 mm) - 100x (working distance not less than 2 mm) The eyepiece must be of 10x and wide field 22 mm type. The eyepiece must have diopter and distance adjustment. The microscope must be of trinocular with photoport. The photoport must deliver image size on monitor live view at not less than 75% of the coverage from eyepiece view. The microscope must allow synchronized view at the eyepiece and monitor live view at the same time without having to switch. The photoport must deliver parfocal live view on monitor and eyepiece, meaning when the eyepiece image is in focus, live view image also in focus. 2
3 The C-mount lens on photoport must be of plan undistorted lens and focusable to achieve parfocality. The microscope must have a high resistant mechanical stage with size approximate 175 x 145 mm and travel range approximate 76x42 mm. The microscope must have a 360 o free-rotating attachment on the stage to facilitate the rotating of specimen. The illumination must be precentered single high-intensity LED with power at least 5W. The illumination must be filterless with consistent white colour light. The focus drive must be of coaxial coarse and fine focus system with distance approximate 28 mm per revolution. The microscope must accommodate observation on the top surface of the specimen as high as 80 mm or more. The microscope must have adjustable aperture to control focal depth. The microscope must have an adjustable field diaphragm. 2. Digital Camera The digital camera must have at least full high definition (FHD) resolution. The camera must directly connect to a standard personal computer via a simple USB interface without having to go through other adaptor. The frame rate must be at least 30 frames per second. The camera must be compatible with the photoport C-mount of above microscope and cover at least 75% of the eyepiece view area. The camera must be compatible to live view, live measurement, live focus and live stitching functions of the image analyzer. The camera must have auto and manual exposure settings. The camera must have auto and manual white balance settings. The camera must have an unlimited saved setting and to be recalled instantly according to user s requirements. The saved setting files of the camera must be exportable to other personal computer. 3. Image Analyser (IA) The image analyzer must have the following CAPTURING FUNCTIONS: IA must allow direct personal computer control of the above camera for following Live functions: Live view (with full screen option). Live measurement and analysis. 3
4 Live focus enhancement (processing must be instant, time less than approximate 3 seconds). Live image stitching. IA must have shading correction at capture. IA must have time lapse capture and movie recording. IA must have adjustable crosshairs and grid masks (square & circle) at any desired position. IA must have scale, time stamp, and transparent image overlay at live view. IA must allow unlimited capture setting save and load. The image analyzer must have the following PROCESSING FUNCTIONS: IA must be able to correct the image shading. IA must be able to correct reflection and highlight. IA must be able to compose a high dynamic range (HDR) image. IA must have an uneven illumination correction function. IA must have standard focus enhancement (extended depth-offocus) for all-in-focus image view with fast processing time (< approximate 3 seconds). The standard focus enhancement must have auto-alignment functions for stereoscopic or any possible displacement during capture. The image analyzer must be equipped with advanced focus enhancement with sub-pixel accuracy focus that caters for translucent/transparent objects. IA must have manual multi-image stitching with instant auto-adjust function. IA must come with an auto image stitching function with fast processing time (< approximate 5 seconds). The above image stitching must have smooth-combine function to filter away uneven image brightness for final smooth and even composite image. IA must have edge generating filters to allow the generation of coloretched grain boundaries. IA must be able to remove noise and particles automatically. Morphological filters must be included.
