The Lightment division of Insta Elektro GmbH has been dealing with this melding of electronics and design since Insta s more than 40 years of experience as a developer and manufacturer of electronic products for building system technology, LED luminaires and light controls have made it successful on the market.

It supports the thoroughly tested and certified German manufacturers of products and systems and providers of services in the context energy efficiency. Under this umbrella brand an information structure across all projects and players and comprehensive information in important fields of action are offered. After examination by the federal ministry of economics and technology (BMWi), branch export initiative energy efficiency, Insta became part of this initiative energy efficiency. In different product group specific implementing provisions on ErP (energy related products) demands on an environmentallyfriendly design of relevant products with regard to energy consumption are mentioned. Keyword is the so-called ban on incandescent lamps. Since the third and second last level of the EU ban on incandescent lamps has been in force. 45 W clear incandescent lamps must no longer be placed onto the market. The final STOP for incandescent lamps will come in one year from now. For the consumer, today LED lamps are already an option For these LED light sources and luminaires European regulations are in preparation. With Leditron Insta develops a new control process for luminaires in co-operation with the lighting industry. Insta faces this subject with the development and production of energy efficient LED luminaires for indoor and outdoor application, and with compliance to new standards like EN or ASR 3.4 for lighting of working places.

Product safety Returned goods CE-mark, test marks and certifications The CE-marking is like an EU passport for luminaires. The manufacturer declares that all requirements of all EU guidelines relevant for the product have been complied with. The requirements are described in harmonized standards. Insta products often bear several European test marks A VDE mark shows that the product has been tested by the independent German test and certification body VDE with regard to the relevant harmonized safety standards and that conformity has been proven. The ENEC mark can be regarded as supplement; it regulates this proof on European level, accepted by all test and certification bodies. For LED lighting technology two safety-relevant standards of the low-voltage directive have to be considered, like DIN EN62471 (photobiological safety (eye safety) of light sources and luminaires or DIN EN for evaluation of the exposition of people to electromagnetic fields of lighting systems. The responisibility of the manufacturer The WEEE-directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) bindingly regulates electric and electronic waste, which products fall unter this directive, how they must be disposed of and marking of the devices with the dustbin. RoHS-directive (Restriction of hazardous substances) This way electronic Insta products must be soldered lead-free. REACH-directive (EG) 1907/2006 (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation und Restriction of Chemicals).
